Synn, something like that.

Most I've hit is 900 an' something, I think. Since I've switched to a very conservative betting pattern (I bet 2 bucks, unless I really don't know who's who, in which case I bet 1 :P) I've been steadily, if very slowly, rising. Occasionally a bigger bet, but...

And yeah, I don't play to make money. The bet's more symbolic of the guess/prediction involved than anything else. On the bright side, I think my bailout's 90 something by now, heh.

I've made it up to...401. Most I've bet is 20 (which I lost on an upset).

I have 855 after playing for an hour or so.

Won around 300 from a single game, with a bet of only 30. It was some horrible looking thing that absolutely curbstomped the other guy. So right now I am putting low bets on the underdog, hoping that they win regardless. Occasionally dreams do come true.

If I'm at less than like $500, I mostly bet big.  Upsets happen often enough that it's really easy to get up to that much in just a couple rounds, so it doesn't matter much if you lose it.  Past that, I start betting more conservatively, and trying to work my way up.  It's just hard to really get anywhere without having a decent pool to work with.  Once you have a couple thousand, you can start getting meaningful amounts from safe bets, and put more into risky bets without it being devastating if you lose.

I hover around 420 or so, because I bet super-safe.

Incidentally it's really not worth betting more than one salt on the favorite in curbstomp matches. You're going to get a terrible return regardless, so the cost if there is an upset far outweighs the tiny bit more you make.

I assume the game uses the MUGEN engine?

Yeah; in fact, it's mentioned 3 other times on this very page.

Worth trying anyway. It's not like you need to do anything with the browser besides run Salty, if it comes to that. Having multiple browsers going isn't that big of a thing, especially if you're using one of them very lightly.
I'm running a toaster from 2009 that uses a quarter of the RAM just to support the video card. Firefox is noticeably slower on my machine than Chrome, and I have a preference for performance in just about anything computer-related. I guess it wouldn't hurt to give Firefox another try, though I doubt there will be much of a difference other than it will take a bit longer to load and do other processing-related things.

I had $1,600 at one point, but it was really early on and so I didn't have the sense not to lose it immediately. So 250 and rising, small bets.

I started with 700 today.

I ended up with 200.

I-I'm going to take a little break.

Seriously don't sweat it if you're below $1000, and lose all your money.  It's so easy to go all-in on a couple upsets and boost back up to that level.  I went from $60 to over 4k in two bets before.  The quickest way to get out of the salt mines is to bet recklessly.  But it's also the quickest way back into the salt mines, so stop doing that once you're out.  Once you've been up to a couple thousand saltys, you'll realize that it was silly to play cautiously when you didn't have much to lose.

It took me 24 hours, but I finally got back above my starting funds. No more salt mine for me until I make a bad but reasonable seeming call!

If nothing else saltybet is a pretty good litmus test for precisely how careful you should be around casinos.

*waggles hand* Sorta'. Casinos are considerably more sophisticated about ripping off its patrons,* particularly since Salty, near as I can tell, isn't actually (intentionally) rigged in any particular fashion (there's not really a house to win). S'also a very different sort of game than, say, slots or roulette, and different still from card games. More accurate would probably be about how careful you should be before going to the dog/horse tracks, or betting on sports (/fighting events). But... close enough, I guess. A warning against gambling in general, almost definitely :P

*Any time you walk into one, what you're actually betting on is that the statistics games the house is running to pull profit isn't going to land on you, this time.

Always bet against Reddit characters.

I once managed to get up to around 6.6k salty bucks, but I bet it all on a JoJo called Jonathan because it was my name. A bear kicked his ass.
