The sad thing is, I'm immune to his TVTropes linking shenanigans.
Because I've already read all those pages.
My easily-distracted nature pays off! Huzzah!

Tropes may not be bad, but TVT is. There was a purge a while back when the site owners were trying to direct what people posted and what things were called. I decided I was done with it. Either your website is community content and you leave them to it (with some reasonable censorship so it doesn't become a cesspit) or your website is content that you publish and the community gets to enjoy it. It's a shitty thing to say you're going to make money off everyone else's work and then tell them how to do it. If I'm vacuuming a floor and you start telling me how I'm doing it wrong, I'm handing you that vacuum and you can do it yourself. If I wanna call it a Toblerone, screw anybody who says otherwise just to fortify their own intellectual property.

Plus TVT has some problems with their content.

Among the various filtering options I'd like to see in a web browser is the removal of any mention of fanfic. Still don't see why leech crud gets entries on TVT. There's a serious legitimacy problem when your creative work is basically some space robot manga - but everyone is in high school! Or Harry Potter but Harry is a vampire and that one chick is a werewolf and one day they stumble upon a book of secret magical sex positions.
(1) Make up your own shit.
(2) If you ignore (1), expect that nobody will care.

Because people post without bothering to read the previous entries you get a ton of crap that's double-posted.

Because having access to a keyboard and dialup doesn't guarantee intelligence, you get a ton of crap that's stupid.

The people who both don't read and are dumb post stuff in the wrong places.

Not enough people wikignome to fix the idiocy and when they do there's an uproar because some precious little angel's 100 bytes of poorly-researched text isn't displaying on TVT anymore.

There are too many fine distinctions that matter only to the connoisseur.

Back to the game idea.
Have we agreed at what level we'll be at?

It seems like people want to start at 3, but personally, I'd prefer 1.

I'd prefer three, simply because I need it to be that high to pay for my LA.

If we have multiple GMs, could we have differing starting levels?
So you could have your 3rd level team, and I could get into a 1st level one?

Well, I could always play a first level character, but I'd probably switch to a mage or something, because my build is set up with a +1 LA (+2 with the workaround suggested).

Spoiler: TV Tropes Stuff (click to show/hide)

Parties with multiple starting levels should be fine. It's not like we'll be leveling up at the same rate, anyways.

Could you use LA buyoff? O_o

Note. I actually dont know how LA buyoff works.

Also, I'd really prefer we all start at the same level...level 1! :D
Tho I also agree it's probably going to be up to whoever runs the 'zone'

Speaking of Zones, time to start sending out PM's.

That's not how LA buyoff works. With buyoff, you pay a chunk of experience once you reach a certain character level to reduce your LA for the purposes of ECL by one. If you have more than one LA, you can buy it off multiple times. Details here.

I'd prefer a start at level 1. It's simpler.
But anything <4 is fine. 4 and above is a bit high.

So tk likes Dwarm's setting, and so do i. since no one's objected to it, I'm guessing everyone else is fine with it? also, seeing as i've heard stories about Dwarm from yak players (:P) and i met Tk through an NWoD game, i doubt this will be entirely roleplay-phobic, but it'd be nice to know exactly how roleplay-friendly we expect this campaign to be?
