Hey all. A yeti became the god-king of a dwarf civilization. While funny and all, its sort of annoying, and I'm hoping this sort of thing isn't common. Anyone know how this might have happened?

I have not edited yetis in any way.

The dwarves had probably conquered the Yetis and placed Dwarven governors in charge of their hamlets. The Yeti you are talking about in particular must have ascended to the very top of Dwarven society in worldgen.

That is a Demon /pretending/ to be a Yeti-god.

I think those are the only two ways...

Na, a Yeti is a semimegabeast, which can be worshipped, like any other megabeast as well. Its usually dragons, hydras, or giants, something more imposing, but why not pray to a mystical snow-creature, if you are living in the mountains anyway. Maybe he'll beat up some harpies for you.

I hope to see more of this.  Work hard on your fort and perhaps the god king will visit you and become your ultimate defender.
