Basically, I have a loose idea to at some point have a fortified shooting position constructed on my back, so someone can shoot enemies while protected from ranged attacks by cover and from melee attacks by my reach.
Howdah work?
Have you ever seen a depiction of a war elephant? Basically, I could build a small sniping position out of wood on my back which the comrade could sit in, gaining cover bonuses. If anyone wanted to strike them, they would have to go through me, as well. It's an idea I've been toying with for later use.

EDIT: Wait, I meant to ask whoever was making the Kobold Marshall.

Ok. Against my better judgement, an Awakened Cat PC race that you can play in this campaign looks like this:

-6 Strength, +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom.
Tiny: +2 to AC, +8 to Hide, -2 to Attacks, -8 to Grapples; carry ¾ weight and a reach of 0.
Awakened Cat base land speed is 30 feet.
Scent 30', Darkvision 60'.
Unusual Paw Dexterity: The Awakened Cat, despite lacking thumbs, has enough manual dexterity to get things in and out of pouches, bags and other containers normally.
+2 racial bonus to Climb and Move Silently.
+4 racial bonus to Jump, Hide and rolls involving other felines.
LA: 0, but 1 racial HD of Magical Beast.

@TealNinja: Dragonfire Inspiration is approved.
@Kansa: Your character sheet seems fine.

Yay!  I'm assuming that for the magical beast HD I go with 1/2 of 1d10?

It might be useful to bring one anyway, in case dragons show up :P.

Dragons are over-played. Besides, if a Dragon shows up our only real hope is not being spotted or, barring that, groveling. I get the feeling that in a fight we'd probably get slaughtered.

Never rule out the possibility of fighting a dragon. The dragons part of D&D has a subconscious affect on GMs' minds.

What exactly is LA?

Level Adjustment is where a race has powerful abilities, so a PC of that race starts with fewer levels to keep the players on the same level of power.  LA of 0 means we start on the same level but a racial Hit Die of magical beast means that instead of a level of wizard, I have to take a level of magical beast, meaning access to fewer spells.

Level Adjustment. Basically, your character level is only part of your Effective Character Level, along with any LA, racial hit dice, or whatever else you might have. Essentially, you count as slightly higher level for the purposes of encounters, exp, etc, but don't actually get the benefits of an extra character level like feats, hitpoints, skill points, class abilities, etc.
Racial Hit Dice do give you some benefits (hit dice, skill points, some other stuff), but can't be gotten rid of. LA has an optional rule to be bought off with experience later.
Actually, Magical Beast RHD aren't bad, though losing caster progression isn't fun. One level shouldn't be too much of a problem, though.

Yeah, it's not like I'm trying to minmax here, just making a fun character concept.  Being a level behind in the wizard spells should help keep things interesting.
