D&D?
« on: October 20, 2013, 07:50:16 pm »

I wasn't sure where to post this, but then I remembered the 'play by post' game that was going on here a while back. By the way, what happened to that?

I have recently taken an interest in Dungeons & Dragons. I've watched Youtube videos of people playing, and read through a copy of the player's handbook for 3.5. I've never actually played, but I want to try. I just need to find a group. Is there a 'play-by-post' game starting up somewhere? Would someone consider starting a new one here, or reviving the old one?

Does anyone have a group that plays online, looking for a new player who doesn't necessarily have to know the game that well? Would anyone like to start a group playing online?

Sadly, AFAIK all the play-by-post D&D games on here have died.

There's a play by post Dark Heresy thing running right now.

I suggest you look into roll 20. This would still likely be a good place to recruit for a game though.

So, who wants to DM?

If I DM, I'd be willing to let you guys use some options from Unearthed Arcana (most of which I think are in the SRD). I got it a few weeks ago and have been itching to use it.

By the way, is your pm-game still going?

I sort of ran out of time what with school starting up, and that system was really probably more hassle than it was worth. I still have several campaign ideas both from it and other works lying about though. I really need to work on engaging players more quickly, though.

Also, I've been kind of hesitant to start up a game for fear of time constraints, since I'm determined to keep Gods of Lar running ad infinitum.

I am willing to DM. Your choices for campaign seeds are as follows:

-The Orc Pope has denied the Orc King permission to annul his marriage, so the Orc King has hired you to kill his wife
-The Mad Wizard has just gone sane--or so he claims. He's hired you to petition the Queen to lift his banishment from the kingdom.
-A dragon has decided that the princess would make a "lovely couple" with a prince of a neighboring kingdom and wants you to help set them up.
-You must defeat the Bardic Lich in a rap battle before he brings 1000 years of darkness upon the land.
-Write in Option! If you have a cool enough idea, I will run it.

That would be the first option. It would play out like Henry VIII. Which is Shakespearean and therefore non-silly.

If it is Play by Post then I'm willing to try. I think that 3.5e is a free version isn't it? If not then I can't help.

Further-more I'm game for the help set up the people route.
