The game is 'free to demo' to be honest.  You can get 20 skill in an hour if you know how to work the system.  And it hobbles your body/mind/spirit attributes extremely severely.  You start at like 19, and cap at 20, and you're not considered to be anything real until you're like 35 or 40.  Skills become impressive around 75.

Sadly not with digging. I'm at 86 or so. :(

Also, Exerosp pays for prem if you want to play the game but can't afford/can't pay prem and stuff. Can only pay once this month tho.

I just received an email about Wurm going to Steam. Here's the link to the Wurm Unlimited Steam Page.

It seems to be focused on a "host-your-own-server", enabling you to customize the experience.
I wonder, in 2015, will this be fun? Will it work? Or will it be buggy and clunky?

I mean, the last time I played Wurm was probably 6 years ago or something, and I didn't have money to pay for a subscription back then, so I actually have no idea.
It sounds interesting, though.

Oh man, Wurm Unlimited is very exciting. WO has always been a game that just screamed for private servers with game master support. Definitely will be picking it up.

Interesting.  I'm expecting a few more PVE themed servers with vastly raised spawns and quasi-dungeons.  I'd be way in for that.

Yeah, I was thinking..with the ability to customize the whole way the server works, it really has a great potential.
People can just lower the decay for stuff (when I used to play, the skill and object/building decay was absurd, IMO), and keep the server up..and people can come and go as they please.

My memory is pretty terrible about Wurm, though. I remember it being more RPG, and less MMO, and also the first true hardcore sandbox game I played. Is that right?

For instance, are the monsters spawn meaningful? I remember some guys recruited me for a town and helped me start, and I remember one day a bear decided to walk around the town and murder all the newbies (like me). It wasn't a case of the default MMORPG monster spawn-point. That bear moved from a place far away, killed people, and then went away. People had to track it in order to kill it.

In other words..is my memory embellishing it, or is it that way?  :P

that sort of thing can happen, if the area isn't much settled and is not a heavily used hunting ground.
it is due to things like that that I learned to build all my fences and houses with 2 doors, on opposite sides. Leave the monster/animal at one, escape from the other.

Wait... private Wurm servers? You mean I can get a group of friends to play and not have to worry about some troll coming along and wrecking all of our stuff?
Color me intrigued.

Now, will there be listen servers or just dedicated ones? It says "host your own virtual world" so I'm assuming listen servers will be a thing.

That i never saw it coming.... I am really glad to see it, finaly we will be able to find servers where you dont have to grind 6 month to have good skills, or 12 toon to be self sufficient or play with smaller communities.

I'm personally holding out for a hellscape map.  Overpowered creatures and tight packs of enemies.

I'm glad more people are looking forward to this. That's why I love this forum.  :P
Wurm is like Hazeron to me. It brings that cozy warm feeling no Triple-A can ever bring.

It just makes me a bit worried that setting up a server might be insanely boring for a non-fan-host (like me, who only played for a month 6 years ago).
Hopefully they make the configuration process straightforward, otherwise thousands of servers could be setup with less than 3 players each.

Also, I shared the link to a friend and the first thing he says is "This is ugly". When I first shown DF to him he said "What".
I need new friends.

I also need sleep. 24+ hours without sleeping makes me go off rails.

I really not fan of this.
People that been on for a decade can understand how i feel.
Not finding anything positive but Rolf can make some quick cash to get hopefully something invested in
future development on "Wurm Online" and stop scattering people of the already quiet servers.
Gah. So disappointed.
Good to hear that some think this is good news.

Those of us who think it's good news are the people who don't play, have played and lost interest, or don't want to spend a recurring fee to play (properly). I do agree that when I played, every time the world seemed so... empty. Even with cities and stuff there were never very many people on.
