I personally quit Wurm due to the shift toward more grind when they added the legendary resource drops and items.
I liked things being more like commodities - you could smith a good sword, get a buddy to enchant it, and have a great weapon comparable to other swords other folks made. It took a little time to make high quality and sometimes enchanting would break it, but in general you knew about how much time it was going to take to make or replace your equipment. With that addition they introduced a very random element to it that made the best weapons extremely rare, and you had people grinding like crazy to get the better weapons and having something that was just plain superior to the standard versions.
Not sure how things work now, as I left a long time ago (and sold my special bag thing from preordering for way more money than I had ever paid for the game, it was a nice bonus).
The other thing that always turned me off on the game was the whole buying silver thing making the game mildly pay to win. The stuff you could get for silver could keep enemies from looting you, so people with that super amazing gear that they grinded for ages for would just spend real money to make sure nobody could take it even if they managed to overcome the advantages they had and win in a fight.
I for one like the wurm unlimited thing. I might get back into the game if I can find a good server for it.
