Can anyone explain how the energy display bar works?  Looking at Girlinhat's, and and mine from last game, it seems like the bar is very distorted, and not in the way implied by the graphic either.

I dont know the exact details but from playing this is what i see:
The scale is some kind of logarithmic scale weighted towards running out of power.

Roughly:
0-50% on the bar represents ~20% power
50-75% on the bar represents 20-50% power
75-100% on the bar represents 50-100% power

So the bar doesnt move much while you have plenty of power but as you start to run out it picks up speed dropping.

Its a logarithmic scale.

A single small capacitor will have a visible bar with a few notches of resolution to show power for drones.
At the same time, a base with lots of huge capacitors will still be on the scale :)

Also, for the most part, you don't need to worry about the details of your energy levels when they're high, but you really care when they get low :)

Are deflectors totally immune to EMP warheads?

EDIT: The EMP warhead did some physical damage to a few struts...

I dropped the shields for a turn so the blast never hit them.

Ed sent his EMP drone way too far ahead of his laser drone.

Congratulations to USEC for the first component kill of the game so far.

GirlInHat; thanks for your fire support during my attack run on your base :D

I doubt you'll be smiling this turn and definitely not next turn... :)

I think a potential bug with the order of events could be apparent this turn.

GIH shot 8 beams at you, with her Base, Debris(Turbo) & ship in the same Hex, so with the 1/6 chance of hitting something of her own. You would think at least one self hit - yet all shots got through. That could have just been good rolls/luck for her. Although it could be she got a clean shot - see below.

On the flip side SJ shot 4 beams at GIH and the 3 items in the Hex but only 2 beams are visable and only 8 dmg. Considering the base is large enough that all would hit it guaranteed if it missed everything else, 2 beams have disappeared. Presumably they hit the other items in the Hex, but because they was also docked the same turn there's no registered hit?

EDIT: First explanation was junk - But it seems something bogus has happened shooting into and out of a docking procedure during the same turn?

The damage applies before docking.
But the design grid of the gunship on which the damage traces were placed no longer exists.

Also, the ship which absorbed the damage no longer exists, so those damage counts don't show up either.

I've definitely noticed that shooting OUT of a hex cannot hit anything in the same hex.  IE, my gunship is on the same hex as my fabber.  If my gunship fires, it will never accidentally hit the fabber.  If this is an exploit I wasn't aware of it, I thought it was simple game rules that the weapon fire line begins the first hex out.

There's supposed to be a 1 in 6 chance that it hits. Maybe you got lucky?

I wasn't aware of this.  In that case, yes, I am skilled at luck.

Guess I jumped the gun with this one!
Looking closer and comparing T24-T25, you can see the "dissappeared" shots did in fact hit the ship via dropping its shields slightly.

I saw that the 2 beams from SJ were missing + the other 8dmg that should have at least hit the base in the worse case scenario and thought those shots had disappeared into the abyss. Then noticed all the shots from GIH got through too. I was thinking maybe there was a bug with hitting items that then disappear into docking messes up those shots.

Looks like I have to take the smiling comment back for SJ too! Big smiles on his face this turn as the luck rolls swing his way :)

Well, you missed this turn.  The last time you fired, you hit your base two out of four times and my fighter dodged the rest.  That's why I thanked you for your fire support :D

It should all average out in the long term.

I didn't notice any particular damage to my craft.  And in either case, my fabber can survive more damage than your fighter when you factor in deflectors and repair rate, the only real drawback is that it's not getting that damage through to you.
