People mention Spore because this is what people hoped Spore would be :v

I should look at this again, it just keeps getting cooler and cooler.

A hands off toy?

I'd call it more a Forgotten Beast generator.

'The SPECIES beast Primum Specium has arrived! An eyeless worm. It is long and fat and undulates rhythmically. Beware its gaping mouth! Primum Specium is associated with stupidity, adorableness and abominations.

In a time before time, Primum Specium began wandering the surface of the world...'

It's not really what I'd have wanted from spore.

I wanted spore to allow creativity, but with what you add having an effect further than 'you can kill things easier!' or 'You can make friends!'.

Not saying this is bad, but it's different.

The biggest replayability-killer in Spore was the removal of anything but the part type affecting skills. And the complexity limiter, which was wholly artificial (could be removed with a cheat).

Spore-gent aside, I should probably mess around with Species again.

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.
