And then while everyone's all worried about Yellowstone, Lake Taupo will suddenly erupt and kill everybody.

Ye gods, doomsday is upon us.
It's not nearly as worrying as the triple earthquake swarm, so I think we're fine. It'll only be of any import if something else happens after this.

No, I'm pretty sure that melting tarmac is a sign of the End. Right next to stuff sinking into solid ground, in fact.

I kinda hope it doesn't erupt for a little while so I can move to the east coast for college.  As is, the ash would sweep right over where I live.

By my extraordinarily poor understanding, you've got anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of millenia.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Checking on previous ash clouds has me find that I am just out of range of the prior eruption clouds.  Though, if it causes New Madrid to go off...I'm at least out of the red zone...

Looking at the map further, looks like Mardi Gras is being held in underwater 2???.

Oh, don't worry, if/when yellowstone goes off you can pretty much write off the states entirely. And by economic/agricultural extension, a good chunk of the world. Probably better to be sitting near, so the end comes quick and relatively painless.

Considering that the ash cloud is going to go global.......

How many meters sea level rise is that???

Yellowstone going off and perhaps madrid isn't going to cause the north american continent to sink, if that's even what you're thinking.

Some minor updates on the whole Yellowstone Park thing which started this thread, the Yellowstone Park volcano is acting up again and the roads are melting. For those who aren't in the know, Yellowstone Park had a triple earthquake swarm last year which is a sign of weird shit happening in a supervolcano.

O_o I was just there last week...

Ah, but first, they'll have to contend with Wyoming and its aircraft carrier.

Nice to see that the flooding going as far as Lake Michigan won't affect the water levels of the Great Lakes at all, though.  Very polite.

That map is pretty obviously nonsense- the entirety of Nevada and Utah can't flood unless much more of the Midwest and East Coast do, too. Salt Lake City (which this map depicts as underwater) is over a thousand feet above sea level. Not only is there not enough ice cap to flood it, but even if there were, everything east of the Rockies, except for the tallest Appalachian peaks, would be ocean:

Oklahoma is starting to earthquake itself apart.
35% of the US is suffering from a super-drought.
Yellowstone is threatening to explode and kill us all.

I'm starting to worry about you guys!   :-[
