I'm thinking that continuing to hone our reading ability should be a priority. Our tutor won't be around forever, and learning how to read provides potential for advancement in various things.

Also, why not head to that party? It can't hurt to be a small part of dwarven society, and slowly ingratiate ourselves with the people of the embassy.

This is a little more frivolous, and if anyone disagrees i'll drop it, but how about we send a message to our husband with the ring?
Maybe "Longing", i think that should communicate that we miss him effectively.

You must now decide which spell you want to learn next. Koro can help you master Repel Vermin, Mend Clothes, or Dispel Wrath. You suspect your sisters-in-law would be willing to help you learn some of the more adult spells. You suspect the Jeweler Jung would also be able to assist you, but you fear such lessons may send him the wrong message...
Yeah, not Jung.
Hm...Well, I'd go with "Bond with Koro over Dispel Wrath."

You comment to Koro that you have been smelling strange stuff from his room, and he gives you a look and gets a bit angry. It turns out he hadn't smoked any of his stuff yet, so he quickly deduces that you went through his room.
Well...this could have been handled much worse, and we had to risk it.

As you have been led to expect, you find the guild to be a blurred mix of mages, scholars, and ner-do-wells. Although they do a fair amount of legitimate magical work (mostly exporting artifacts and translating magical text from Northern to Imperial) the bulk of their business is in drugs.
Definitely something you want to hear about the people your son has been spending time with.

Quote
"So you aspire to be more than just some dumb hick damsel in distress? Good for you. Never would have guessed it."
Yes. Yes, we do. Perhaps you should aspire to be something other than a criminal with no idea of how to speak to people without insulting them?
Note: That was OOC.

Do you mean gods'? I thought that this place was polytheistic, but I could be remembering wrong.

Mention that we smelled a pungent odor from Koro's room. Ask what it was. If he does not give a reasonable explanation (something like
"rotten meat" doesn't cut it--we "smelled" burning herbs, not rotting meat), ask that he tell the truth.

Remember what I said about not being a hypocrite? How did you think it would end, lying to him while simultaneously asking him to tell the truth?

 * Stop treating Koro badly. No more lying, no more searching his room, no more sending spies after him. All this stuff accomplishes is it teaches him to be sneaky and dishonest...after all, if we're being sneaky and dishonest why shouldn't he? And if we treat him this way, not only does it encourage the behavior, it also alienates him. There's no good reason to do this. Treat him honorably.

 * Express interest in Disgrace's offer, and ask her to help us learn to read. If she feels like we look up to her, that makes her feel good and gives her incentive to not cause problems for Koro. We want to learn to read anyway, and having two tutors will help us learn faster. Plus, mage guild contacts are not a bad thing. Also, the more time we spend with her, the less time she's spending alone with Koro and the more likely we are to find out what's going on.

 * Regarding the shipwrecks, continue, but don't take up that offer to blow up the safe. We can take our time on that.

Basically +1 to what Lord bucket said.

If she declines or is just being an asshat {ladies should never be called this if their ladies}, then we just take him around the country side where he can be around different kids. Who knows maybe we can get in contact with a hunter{huntres would be preferably} who can give Kora apprenticeship.

Is that a roundabout way of saying "I only write when drunk"? If so, I can respect that.

Keep at the salvaging. Yes, we want those mermen disposed of. Yes, we want the safe cracked, although I prefer that he whip up some acid to dissolve the lock. All this landlubberly shit is pointless when we are clearly habituated to the watery depths. To say nothing of our son. You want to solve his many problems? Here's how. You get him busy doing things you both like. Until his associates in the wizard guild focus on memorising various waterbreathing and free movement spells, we have him all to ourselves when we're underwater. The many problems all sort themselves out when he is too preoccupied to get into trouble on shore with dodgy landlubbers.

Water, water, water. Get back to the water. Now and always.

No. I can write sober well enough, but I'm at my best when I'm a bit loopy. Booze works for that, but so does exhaustion. Last night I was just tired as heck.

Writing, and art in general, can be inspired by many things, from trauma to madness. Insomnia is a more mundane and unusual, but not entirely impossible, source of inspiration.

Nah, when he's drunk, he does a lot more weirder stuff  ;D

Well, it does look like that Killman and her family are all thorns in our side, statistically speaking. On the other hand though, both sides there are working against the other so...

BUT, they fact that Killman and Disgrace happen to be feuding does give us an arguement against the pair to keep their noses out of our business. As for the pearls, they aren't too valuable to to the lack of lustre on them. (Colour isn't important on them, though I'd think that any colour that isn't standard may fetch a higher price.) if we can find some of the more lustrous pearls (Or tell koro to do so) we could make a little extra money with that. Of course, we could just search for where the oysters were and if there's enough, potentially start a farming operation for them.

Now, in addition to LordBucket's suggestion about what to do about Koro's recent misadventures, I would like to add that we should have a nice, long talk with him about morality and related topics. And rather than trying to look up to Disgrace (She got that name for a reason. Probably won't help our reputation if we look up to someone with it), We could try and appeal to that hatred of her mother instead, though I have no idea where to begin on that.

Sounds like an excellent idea.

She's trying to turn Koro into a thief mostly because Killman wants Koro to become a sorcerer simply out of spite. If that isn't hatred, I may need to look the meaning of the word up again.
