BFEL just got this yesterday.
Finally got some herbal medicine from the healroot farm, right after the only person who could grow it died of an infection :P

Also, just now started getting trading stuff. Two groups have approached me so far, and I'm now building a communications thing to I guess link to the orbital trade majig I threw in the stockpile?
Have to mine some more steel and components from the area though before the comm suite gets built.

My colony just went up in flames and everybody died.

Having three pyromaniacs and only two people capable of firefighting is a total nightmare.
I haven't been accepting any pyromaniacs in my colony for exactly this reason. We got one who joined automatically, but he was summarily executed after a fire he set led to the deaths of two people.

I hope his organs didn't went to waste

Ok, communications are up, so is orbital trade beacon, but I have no idea how to initiate trading. CAN you initiate trading? Or is it only when someone comes to you?

Also, when can I into prosthetics? Some limbs got wrecked by ill advised Thrumbo hunting.

Drop trade goods and silver by the beacon and wait for a trader to come by the planet. you'll get an event notification

Yeah, I caved and looked it up in the wiki. Sucks that you apparently can't make prosthetics :(
I mean you'd think power armor would give the same sorta stuff, like at least the simple version.

Added, but it probably won't work for the game I've already got going will it?

The topic creator doesn't seem to be maintaining the OP—it's become pretty inaccurate.

I recruited a prisoner who happened to be the lover of the pirate factions leader. He just broke up with her for a colonist

Edit: They're getting married, I hope they invite his ex to the wedding.

To be honest im not even sure if the OP remains in contact with reading these, though the last small notice was in April (so sort of recent) but they've never strayed or engaged anywhere else in the DF forum to engage with the community generally. Just talking about Rimworld here. Kind of rude.

In all fairness while its great that we can talk to the horses mouth, its not appropriate for a competitive game dev to shill their game on another forum. Leave the open-minded discussion of other games to the players i guess.

competitive game dev
Competitive?
What, you're not following the playoffs? Yesterday, RimWorld beat Death Rode to Canada 10-9—for all we know, that extra point might have come from this thread!

competitive game dev
Competitive?

For the top-down, 'settlement/fortress' genre. DF is free and id like to think audiences could engage in both but practically if people dedicate time to playing rimworld instead of keeping on track with patronage and involvement with DF one or the other is going to lose out in a small capacity. Not harsh competition or anything unlike other paid for titles.

Chaos in the streets! Cats and dogs living together etc etc.
