^Agreed, the next RP should be with all our sisters including Ritalia since this is the last time they will be together for a long time.

Hey, guys!

I'm a new Bay12er who has been lurking this thread for quite a while!

Anyways, as a veteran Crusader Kings player, here are my thoughts:

1. I feel that if we're going to go through the bother of conquering Keshla, we should conquer it for ourselves and turn ourselves into the Emperor of Keshla. There really doesn't seem to be much point erecting a puppet in our place, especially considering the immense prestige boost of being an Emperor. It is true that this might draw magic retaliation and assassins our way, but I feel the risk is worth it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

If we become the Emperor of Keshla before properly reaching 18, I think that our father the King will be forced to name us Crown Prince. Let's face it: most of the courtiers and the future high and middle nobility are awed or loyal to us already, and with being a reiging Emperor and all, choosing Erik will seem like choosing chaff.

2. If our father doesn't name us, I have a plan. All children get a claim on the title of their father. We can press the claim after Father's death and wrest the Crown from Erik. Given the loyalty that the future nobility have to us, I don't think it'll be too difficult. Plus, Erik is the son of a concubine, and little better than a bastard son.

Seriously, though, if we aren't named Crown Prince, we should make the the streets run red with blood. Screw playing the Otto Von Bismark to Erik or our Uncle's Wilhelm II. We will be King, and end our reign as one of the men in history to be mentioned with awe and the appellation, "THE GREAT"

3. To do this, I feel that we should look at Keshla girls only for a future marriage. All girls of our nation will grant us is support from a Duke for the Crown, and that is at most.

But by marrying an influential Keshla, we can get more than a Duke's help: we can earn an Empire.

Thoughts?

Eh. I sort of agree with you, but I think such a plan is a bit out of character for the Prince at the moment. He is clearly deeply loyal to family and in many ways still a child. I'd say it would take some sort of character development to push us in that direction ICly at this point.

If we want to go full on King/Emperor/Tyrant we should wait a decade or so for the young nobility who support us to come into power. We'd have a fair chance of riding roughshod over the world then. Until then, we might as well play it safe and pull the strings for other people until we grow a pair ICly and wait for our supporters to grow up with us.

Snaps, this has kind of been suggested before, you know. As Wierdsound said, that's more random than USA suddenly turning into an administrative monarchy ruled by the Bush dynasty. And it's a big bloody no to conquering Keshla. We got our own kingdom to care about, and conquering shite at this point, especially lands of our allies, would be throwing a gob of shit at a fan.

Easy there buddy. That is the sort of tone that starts flame-wars and gets threads locked. Its okay to disagree, but you don't have to drag out Bush, four letter words, and oversized bold text to bring somebody down.

Sorry, I was a bit rough there, and forgot that my behaviour is indeed one that brings down threads - I've seen it happen multiple times after all. I just don't like out of character suggestions.

It is worth noting to any future conquering or ruler puppetry of Keshla that the Empire is traditionally an elective monarchy of a sort, and not merely a dynasty. It does not have to remain so -particularly with the political chaos of the region- but it does complicate matters slightly that some portions of the populace in Keshla probably expect it to remain so when order is restored.

I think conquering Keshla is only out of character only in that it is not likely feasible, and the Prince is grounded in reality. I think we'd do it in a heartbeat if we thought we could pull it off and establish a stable reign. Luckily just stabilizing the islands for trade and perhaps pulling the strings on whatever leader we place there will go a long way towards earning us our father's seat someday.

On the other hand trying anything against our father, uncle, or half brother unprovoked would be way out of character. We are loyal to our family. Our ambitions are huge, but we are nowhere near the point where we could put a knife in the back of those we love to see them through.

Honestly I think it would be to our advantage to chop the islands up into smaller empires/kingdoms. Our friend says the situation is unstable, so why put all our eggs into one basket. Just as long as the ports remain open, the refugees have somewhere to return to, an nobody is slaughtering the people of Keshla I'm fairly sure the guild could care less about how the islands are run.

With that behind you begin talking less as King and prince and more as father and son, something very rare for you indeed. You segue from brief talk on the upcoming marriage and into your beginnings at seeking political marriage, he seems surprised at this, and laughs.
"Father above, Is there nothing you havn't been doing boy? I hadn't thought you'd be pursuing girls just now, least of all for marriage!" he let's out another deep belly laugh, "and anyway I thought you... well I mean... I hear you've been meeting with some boy privately fairly regularly and... ah but it doesn't matter either way, long as you keep discreet and make sure to have children."

You blink. "Did... uh... what?"

Your father let's out another deep laugh and quickly changes the subject. Soon you turn the discussion towards your brother William.
"So, father, I know this is to be kept private, but I felt I must ask..." you take a deep breath. "why exactly was William removed from succession? I mean, I know it was something about magic, but I felt I should probably know more, if to better look out for him and the interests of the crown, if nothing else."

Lorin sighs deeply, and begins to pick at his nails with a letter opener on the desk. "It's a little bit more complicated than that, but magic was certainly part of it." he tosses the letter-knife back to the desk, and massages his brow, eyes closed in discomfort. "You must promise me you will tell no one, this is a royal secret."

"I promise."

"Good." he sinks back into the cushions of his chair, thinking deeply. "The Aikeen, the sorceror dynasty we Casars deposed, had deep ties to this palace, deeper than scholars know for certain, but some have guessed. Every single Aikeen King who has ever lived is entombed underneath the palace, it's a tradition they kept up for gods know why, I guess they were afraid not to do it. Your great grandfather saw no reason to deny the last Aikeen king that tradition, and sealed him up with the rest of them. Problem is that he couldn't figure out exactly how they sealed up the others, so he just had the mages toss every ward he could think of on the tomb, hope for the best, and leave the damned place alone forever. He even went so far to stick as many of the Aikeen dynastic artifacts he could find in with that last king." Lorin says all this in hushed tones, and at this last he speaks in a voice softer than you've ever heard from him. "That night, we don't know how he managed it, and he still hasn't said why, but he opened that tomb. Got passed nearly every damned ward too *every damned one*, can you imagine it? Save the last, it summoned a nasty spirit of some sort, nearly sucked him dry of will, and killed the gaurds who came to help with nothing but a look before going back to wherever it came from."

Several minutes pass, and neither of you say anything, until your father breaks the silence again. "I think you should go now, we can talk again later, some time after the wedding maybe. Goodbye Son, take care, and be careful of the vultures out there." with that he waves you away, and you depart his study, with a great deal to think about.

Might as well right?

Nah. Don't bother. We should ask somebody who know about magic, like Will or that court mage who has been secretly helping us sometime about that woman. I think Perod's country has too strong of a warrior culture to

Also quietly send work to Sekhon that it is likely that everybody on his list should be getting a title. Also explain that you took his advice and commissioned a gift with a message for the wedding, but that you are unsure if it will be ready in time. Ask him if he would be so kind as to scour his stock and have some items fit for a prince and princess on standby for you to purchase on the wedding day as a backup plan.

Talk to the sisters again. I'm not sure from a game-play perspective if there is anything we need to talk to them about, but it would be nice none-the less. If we catch Ritalia alone we can ask her about our own marriage. I'd ask her to take Perod's ear and get him on our side for claiming the throne someday for what its worth, but I bet she'd do that without us having to ask her. Still, I'd rather go with Jass's suggestion and hang out with the lot of em at once.

I really think we should tell him of the suggesting woman, with telepathic powers. I mean, he just said about his bro, that he would like more info. What is the harm of telling him of it?

Its the timing in the conversation I don't like. He has already dismissed us. It is also likely he heard about it from that knight/officer that went with it, or even from us when we briefed him.
