Eye opener that ariala came but malesha and vuhkara are the real prospects. During the trip i suggest if we can keep them around to gauge their character.

As for now i believe we should make some long plans with our business partners in the guild to make sure they remain somewhat profitable. Maybe bring Vuhkara to help out with that. I'd say we have a friendly rivalry with her dad but i don't think he would do something so underhanded since we're helping him already with these assets.

Call Sekhon for the first RP. Meet with him over a meal. Catch him off guard by opening the discussion by asking his advice on what sort of wedding gift he would recomend.

If he asks why we called him just say "well you were married and had a beautiful Daughter right? i need some help here man". but in a more..princely way.

Nah. If he asks or complains, you should cryptically tell him that matters of greatest importance should be saved until all parties involved are well fed.

You decide to invite Sekhon to dine with you, and send out a servant to extend the invitation. Making arrangements is a simple thing.
Soon enough he arrives, Bodygaurd and child attendants in tow, and you've arranged for them to be fed as well.

At first your conversation is casual, an engagement in pleasantries for the most part, and you begin the meal. "So Sekhon, my sister is getting married, and it's customary to give gifts to the couple, I don't suppose you have any suggestions?"
Sekhon gives a moments thought. "A gift should be a message no? Just make sure that your gift speaks with the voice you wish to give it." Sekhon eats only a little of any one thing, though he samples everything, and eats politely, almost daintily.

BTW sound of the girls on the trip which one do you think is the best so far? I like Malesha {The knight Commanders dauther}, Vulhara {sekhoms dauther who's name reminds me of this man:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgy_Zhukov   IDK just his last name and hers...i think it's a refrence}, and finally that one girl who might get us land or an iron mine if we marry her?

Come on weird pick your poison  :P

EDIT: For the current roleplay "By the way Sekhon, tell me about your country *sits up intently*. What's it like their? Why is their a war in your homeland" and then say "forgive me for the questions i'm just a bit high strong with this meal".

Personally, I'm partial to Vulhara. She knows magic (if I remember right) and would definitely help relations with many Keshlan nobles. It'd be wise to at least explore the opportunity.

"a dabbler in kelshan magic". If i remember from the last thread kelshan's use their magic to rip up ships so i'd say mostly water/wind magic is their specialty.

That might be useful, we do have a ship. And wind tends to be in good supply; it might be nice to have at least a basic understanding of more exotic magics.
Maybe we should ask Sekhom if he wouldn't mind us learning a bit of Keshlan magic, either from his daughter or a more competent mage in his company?

The trick is to drag it out, isn't it? I'm sure the average betrothal age is a bit higher than 13. In the meantime, we can research our options and play potential wives and in-laws against each other as we see fit.

For the record however, Right now I favor the knight commanders daughter or Liona. I also like the idea of a rich Duke desperate to unload some daughters, but would like to meet him in person and negotiate a bit; nothing he is offering screams at me. Sekhom's daughter may also work, but only if we are planning to directly seize power in Keshla.

As for the RP, don't harass your partner with questions that you can answer with a book. Make small talk for a few more minutes, perhaps ask exactly how he was able to escape his homeland, and then drop this bombshell.

"At our last meeting you said you didn't understand me. I find that disturbing. As far as I can tell, the two of us together represent the best chance of ridding Keshla of the Rebels in the near future. We don't have to like each other, or even agree on everything, but we do need an understanding. So speak frankly and tell me what you think I am, and I will correct you if you are inaccurate."

I dunno about the betrothal age, some places can be pretty... strange.

But, anyways, I don't think Sekhom's daughter only works if we wish to seize power. Political marriages form a kind of bond, or treaty. We'd kinda-sorta become like honorary Keshlans, and Sekhom's family would become kinda-sorta like honorary... (uh... I forget our country's name. Analyssian? I feel like that's wrong. Sorry, I suck at names and stuff). You get the point. Keshlan nobility won't see us as such an outsider.
However, that would mean our own court might see us a bit more negatively, if there is a conflict between Keshlan and our kingdom.

I agree with Weird's RP. Make sure to be friendly without being fake or kissing his ass or anything. Maybe find out more about him.

I'm not sure Sekhom is a noble. I'm under the impression he is just a self made lowborn dude. I could have missed something or otherwise be wrong.

Less about how important he is, and more about his nationality (and the nationality, therefore, of his daughter). Though I got the impression he carries quite a bit of weight, I could be wrong. It'd also, obviously, get Sekhom to trust/like us more, if that's important.
Mainly, I think we should prioritize a marriage that helps us politically. If we wish to learn magic or swordplay, we can get a tutor; few things affect politics as strongly as marriage.

He actually said that he would no longer underestimate you, or something to that effect, not that he didn't understand you.

Marriage is generally held off until both bride and groom are at least 16, unless political pressure necessitates an earlier marriage. Generally at least, it's a social convention and not a law. Betrothal may occur much earlier, and sometimes lasts years for children to come of age. Betrothal's are not Ussually binding, but breaking a betrothal is a grave insult.

Sekhon arose to great wealth outside of his caste, not unheard of, and particularly common among trading nations.

So, should we perhaps get to know his daughter, as well as the other potential girls, better? Even the ones that don't seem good to us now, as they may turn out to be brilliant --however unlikely that may be.

I'm bad enough at simple conversation in real life, so I'm not going to write up RP. Sorry.
