Congratulate the Wartortle on evolving.
Return to town.
Defuse Ekpie.
Bank the defused Ekans and Caterpie.
Go to the wilds and search for more pokemon.  Preferably a Jolteon fusion.

From here

Kyra took the moment to contemplate-a moment to listen and wonder what the other 'mons were talking about, something Nine probably picked up, until the time passed...

And they kept on talking.

And talking.

Until she looked at Nine and nodded for an ambush, bringing out the two pokemon in her bag: Magnera and Spearoran.

"Ok, Nine, you hit the Rhyix - Magnera will be the first to act and create an electric field, focusing it on Rhynite, followed by you. Spearo, I don't know what you can do, so try to distract and swipe at Goltrops while flying. You'll go last after Nine, ok?"

Commence battle!

She was unaware of another trainer nearby.

Advanced sign ups? Potential leg up? First gen only?
Sounds fun. But I'm failing to see what is 'advanced' about the signups. Thanks to Rolepgeek for pointing out what I missed!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Lab Assistant Douglas arrives on the island, his blue lab coat overflowing with apparatus, two eager startermons and a freshly minted Masterball straight from the Missingno factory.

Defuse Gyaraeon; release Vaporeon; bank Magneton and Blastoise; search for a Grass-type Pokemon.
Psychic Marvin defuses Gyaraeon, letting loose the Vaporeon (there's now an escaped Vaporeon in the wilds!) and banking Magneton and Blastoise. +2 points for Psychic Marvin. No more points can be gained for banking a Magneton or Blastoise.

After a successful morning in town, he heads off into the brush, poking around in the grass for pokégrass types (rolled 2 +1 easy=3)... while hauling himself up a muddy bank, Psychic Marvin slips and falls straight into the water, where he's soon flanked by a floating STARKANS on one side and a GOLDUSAUR paddling on the other!

Congratulate the Wartortle on evolving.
Return to town.
Defuse Ekpie.
Bank the defused Ekans and Caterpie.
Go to the wilds and search for more pokemon.  Preferably a Jolteon fusion.

Altus Wasser pats his new Wartortle on the back in congratulations and heads to town. There he defuses and banks Ekans and Caterpie, placing them gentling in the pneumatic cryotubes that will hold them safe until they can be studied on the mainland.

+2 points for Altus Wasser. No more points can be gained for banking an Ekans or a Caterpie.

Less burdened now, Altus Wasser sets out looking for the fabled Jolteon (rolled 4 -1 specific foe =3). In a rusty grove of verdigrised piping, the ruins of the powerplant that was to serve the since-doomed populace of the isle, he finds the tell-tale microcrackles of the Jolteon, but before he can investigate further, he is set upon by a wild DUGDOS and the escaped VOLTO!

Explorer Kalson strokes his chin, then pulls out his string of poke balls and lets them all fly out. Now, for his specialty. Attacking.

"Swiftly! Pararow, circle above Goltops and let your spores lull it into slumber! Sandpoke, dig underground and soften the earth below Rhyix; get it tangled in the mud! Zutly, dive into Rhynite's jaws; you can possess it from the inside!"

Pararow attacks Goltops(x2 effectiveness total)
Zutly attacks Rhynite(1x effectiveness)
Sandpoke attacks Rhix(2x effectiveness)

Kyra Pyre steps into the fray, sending her Magnera to create an electric field to entrap the great Rhynite...

[ROLLED 4 (x1 +1 cool)= 5]

The Rhynite lumbers towards them by Magnera's electrical fields entrap the great pokéfusion. There it flails, dazzled by sparking arcs, and steps a miscalculated step into the bright light of Kyra's open pokéball. Not wanting to be outdone, Ninenine sends out a great bout of flames at the nearby Rhyix...

[ROLLED 3 (x0.5)= 2] It's not very effective!

The Rhyix bursts through the flames, bearing straight towards the Ninenine when suddenly it is bogged down in a newly emergent patch of mud: Explorer Kalson's Sandpoke leaps sedately from the mud, arriving in slowmotion towards the muddy 'mon...

[ROLLED 6 (x2 +1 cool +1 aggression)=14] IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!

The Sandpoke high kicks the Rhyix into the mud and the two wrestle for a time before admitting each other's strengths and swearing to be blood brothers forever more. Oblivious to the proceedings, Kyra Pyre's Spearo furiously swipes at the Goltops...

[ROLLED 3 (x0.5 x0.5) =1] It's not very effective.

The Spearo bounces harmlessly off the calcified shell of the sneering Goltops. It bends its craggy knees and leaps into the air, shear-arms glistening with purple-psychic energy. But before it can catch the hapless Spearo, it's intercepted by a cloud of spores from Explorer Kalson's Pararow!

[ROLLED 1 (x2 +1 cool +1 aggressive) =4] It's super effective!

Choking, the Goltops collapses into the mud, but before Pararow can set upon it, the Goltops starts digging with its powerful blade-arms. Pararow steals a glance at the stern face of Explorer Kalson and knows that failure is not an option. It launches another volley of spores, the Goltops inhales and collapses, over-toxicated and unfit for capture.

+1 happiness to Magnera, Sandpoke, Rhyix and Pararow! Congratulations! Kyra Pyre caught a Rhynite!

Spoiler: Rhynite (click to show/hide)

Congratulations! Explorer Kalsom caught a Rhyix!

Spoiler: Rhyix (click to show/hide)

The foothills in disarray, new captures in hand, the two trainers stare at each other.

((Um, Gyarados still looks like Gyareon...))

"Hm...troubling. Can't send out Charmander, of course. However, Starkans would be weak to Parater, while Goldusaur...um...screw it, Char's not going to be out that long."

Go, Parater and Charmander!
Parater: Use your high resistance to Starkans to mock it momentarily before using those venmous claws to turn it into a nice accessory!
Charmander: See Below.

"Alright, Char, this could be tricky. You have one shot; take it, then run and maybe you'll get another. My sixth sense indicates that that flower on top of Goldusaur's back is full of oily chemicals--light it on fire, and Goldusaur is about as good as down. Just make sure you survive that long. Hide in the foliage, burn your way through if Gold makes it tough. Then, get a lock on the flower, blast through, and run before it can return and send you to a watery Pokemon center. Got it? Good."

"Alright, Seeorb, Squirtata. We don't know much about this place, or our competitors, but we do know there's lots of fused pokemon to battle and catch."

He pulls out a notepad, covered with notes and stray pencil scratches.

"I'm pretty sure we'll have a good chance if we head this way. Come on, guys!"

Head out into the wilderness; look for the escaped dotly.

Psychic Marvin gives Charmander a pep talk and sets Parater on the defensive against Starkans, believing him to have a high resistance...

[STARKANS ROLLED 1 (x2 +1 going first)= 3]

Psychic Marvin was dangerously wrong about Parater having special defense against the Starkans: it's psionic crystal amplified a telekinetic blast that shook through Parater's poisonous form. Fortunately, Parater's brash confidence saw it through and though it's poisonous claws were particularly ineffective against Starkans serpentine form, the brutality with which he operated saw through and soon Psychic Marvin had a new psionic crystal (but no pokéfusion). Charmander, meanwhile, had special instructions...

[ROLLED 4 (x2 +1 cool) =9!] It's super effective!

Goldsaur sends jets of water out but Charmander is faster: he wades through the water, tail up high and sends a gout of flame straight into the centre of the Goldsaur. While the fishy pokéfusion is desperately trying to douse itself, Psychic Marvin sends out a pokéball!

+1 happiness to Parater, Charmander and Goldsaur. Congratulations! Psychic Marvin caught a Goldsaur!

Spoiler: Goldsaur (click to show/hide)

Lab Assistant Douglas heads out looking for the evasive Dotly (rolled 4) and after following rumours from a dischevelled man with a Magikarp habit in the pokécentre, he tracks Dotly down to moss-ivy covered pokécemetery. There is DOTLY floats, but it isn't alone, no: there's the escaped GENSTER as well!

...Wait, aren't Ghost-types immune to Normal attacks, while Grass types deal more damage to Water types? Or did I mix up someone's types?

Return to the bank. Defuse Parater and Goldsaur.
Bank Venusaur, Parasect, and Haunter.
Fuse Gyarados and Charmander into Chardos.

Search for Grass-type Pokemon.

Where are you getting Normal from? Starkans was Water-Psychic/Poison type. Psychic does double damage against Parater, due to the partial Poison defence. It'd have been even worse if Parater had attacked Starkans, as it's Poison defence is strong against both Bug and Poison.

"That possibly crazy guy was right! And my notes led me right to it!
Squirtata! Get in there and attack the dotly! Trap it in your Bubbles. Then I can get it with a pokeball.
That Genster is going to be a problem, though. Seeorb! You'll leap into that opening and use Take Down on it's middle. Maybe it won't be as intangible as it looks."

Paying attention to his notepad, and reaching into his pockets for some pokeballs, Lab Assistant Douglas stabs himself on a pencil. "Yeowp!" He drops his notepad and uses his other hand to push the pencil aside while he grabbed his pokeballs.

Kalson locks gazes with his fellow Trainer, hands at his side, but fingers slightly bent, ready for action. As they stare at one another, his hand slides to his belt, onto a pokeball. "We both know what has to happen."

His hand rests on the string his pokeballs are attached to. At an imperceptible altering of the mood, he suddenly lets them fly, sending all his Pokefusions out to face Kyra Pyre.

Old vs. New.
Experience vs. Vigor.
Trainer vs. Trainer.
