Out of curiosity, which patch are you trying?

Also, make sure to always use nethackwiki.com, and not the Wikia site, because Wikia is terribad! (It's a long story, but Wikia refuses to allow the Nethack Wiki to delete the Wiki there, as it gets them ad revenue, despite them having moved on to their own domain. Hence, it's very hard for them to appear over the well-established Wikia on Google.)

An alternative, if you patch just enhances gameplay without changing it, is to try playing over the internet at nethack.alt.org with telnet, and see if they already have it there.
