And by the morning, they've left the manor...

Within a day, they have reached a border village. T'was the only place where Charles, Duke's knight, allowed for rest and for resupply.

Charles have left the inn and moved back to the group which was waiting at the village's... 'main square', if these several square metres of packed dirt could be called that!

"A young girl has an apothecary here, and the elderly blacksmith should've few weapons for trade. If you need supplies, go on and buy something. I am fine with what I have on me."

"I need an axe, definitely." Renault spoke, patting the used up axe that Sheila gave to him long ago. It's handle was on verge of breaking.

Ciera had spent most of the previous day flying and now was standing near the edge of the group. Hearing there was a blacksmith, she decided to head over there, hoping to be able to check the wares and then slip out before anyone else joined her.

Sheila hands Alec the Thunder Tome she has!

"Ciera is still avoiding us." She said flatly.

: "She's still around, though. Personally that's better than I thought. She just needs time. I hope."
Alec fumbled around, struggling to keep the thunder tome in his grip as it was suddenly dumped into his hands.
: "Whoa, whoa, whoa, what's this for? I can't use magic."

Sheila chuckled, choosing to leave the point of Ciera alone for now- She'd just depress herself otherwise. "Well, me neither, and out of the two of us, I think you could learn more from it than me. That and it takes up room in my pack. Do whatever you want with it."

Ciera looked over the weapons being offered, and sighed. Nothing useful for her. And someone else could get Sheila's father an axe. She headed back out, and sat quietly against a wall, staring at the rest of the group. She'd been all set to leave until she realized that she had nowhere else to go. Her family didn't want her, the rebellion didn't want her, and so even if this group didn't want her, it was easier to stay here than try and start somewhere new. Her eye was caught by Sheila handing Alec what appeared to be a tome, and she frowned. She thought he had said that he couldn't use magic...

: "Oh no, no, no. I literally mean I can't use magic." Alec reached into his pack and pulled out a heavily-charred tome with what looked like a fire symbol on it, "See this? This nearly killed me by exploding in my face when I was defending my little brother from a pirat-"
Alec cut himself off, looking at the threatening axe Sheila had on her back.
: "Nevermind! Forget I said that."

: "Whatcha talkin' about, Alec? Ain't that music of yers magic? And ya tried to do somethin' to Efa's sister too, though whatever it was didn't work..."

: "That's... different. The traditional tome sort of magic is a whole different game. Gestures, incantations, the like you have to get just right if you want to get the energy to go to the right place. Even then some people just can't do it. The ancient songs however? Be the right person, have the right instrument, play the song and you're essentially good to go."
: "And, er, I'd rather not talk about what I attempted back there..."

"You do know I'm not exactly in the pirating business anymore, right?" Sheila said, steering the conversation away from that night again. "I'm not going to mind if you talk about it, y'know?"

Oof. She had never seen Alec looking that scary.

: "sorry..."

Noticing Grifen flinch, Alec tried putting on a better face.
: "Oh no, no trouble." Alec waved off, "And, well. It's just not something I'm used to, dealing with pirates. My folks were traders. Most interactions involved yelling, boarding and axes, usually in that order. Only things to do were to bribe, or put bolts and bigger axes in them."

"That sucks. Yeah, violence tends to be the go to problem solver on the sea. It's a shame."

: "To be honest it ain't a whole lot different on land, from what I've seen."
