The being in the temple-construct, known as N'kraan, continues observing the area around the city, expecting another incursion. It's weapons systems were rated for the toughest materials available to his clan's shapers, to allow the Keepers to defend their post from any threat.
His other systems were also of the top quality. He could live almost eternally within this construct, as was expected of him. Humans and many other non- did not see this as a blessing or a gift, but as exile, or a tomb that would never be.
But he did not mind. His duty was to his clan, and when they deemed him a traveler, he obeyed, leaving the temple he had guarded for so many cycles.
And then everything shifted. He found himself in a place much different from where he was. There, he found one of the non. A Human. After.... a skirmish, the two somehow became friends. And then they emerged in someplace stranger still.
The Shipmind calmly sat down on the pavement, pistol at their side. She wasn't sure what those things were, that attacked the city, and did not quite care to know the details.
And then a young girl came dashing down the way, looking a bit worried.
...
Elizabeth was not having a good day, in the slightest. First she gets stuck in some mysterious other world, and then a swarm of giant floating cubes invaded.
She ran down the street, and then just stopped at one point of the pavement, and slumped against a wall.
"Uh... Are you okay there, miss?""Wha?! Oh, it's a person. Whew.... I guess I'm okay... Just... confused, and tired, I guess. My name's Elizabeth Calipso. Nice to meet you, I guess."
