Alith frees himself from Gaston's grasp, chuckling.
"There's no shame in liking a gentleman, lass~"

"You seem confident that your accusation is correct."

"I can read minds, mate. Of course-"
"O-of course I don't l-like him like that! T-that...I-I haven't even k-known him long enough!"
"Forgive me, mes amis, but he may be a bit drunk."
Gaston looks apologetic, while Yukari is still blushing.

[Empiricist]

"Then do answer this: What am I thinking of right now?"
Lucinda is thinking of one of his countless past lives where he was a firefighter. The job consisted of putting out smaller fire through conventional means, but in the case of a large inferno, firefighters would use a ritual to turn the conflagration into a mindless fire elemental which reduced the complexity of the task from putting out a raging blaze into simply slaying a literally thoughtless incarnation of flames.

Alith sobers up and is a bit more shaky.

Lucinda's Self appears next to Yukari "Nevertheless, he is indeed drunk and not necessarily consistent in accuracy, so I'll take your word for it."

"Shit. I...sorry, mate. Just....I have a problem with fire."
Alith shakes quite a bit and his eyes are wide, but he doesn't seem in too much need of help. Gaston sighs.
"He probably misread her mind, ze fool."

Yukari's still blushing somewhat.

"Yeah let's go with that. Otherwise she'd probably have blushed more when we tested Mister Alith."

[Empiricist]

"No need to be embarrassed Miss Kikiuchi, we aren't accusing you of anything. I mean really, if you wish, I could try kissing her to prove that it means nothing to her."

"...except she did blush more."

Lucinda turns and looks at Yukari.

She is indeed blushing more. Alith looks simultaneously surprised and smug.
"Drunk mind reading is the best."
"Zat doesn't mean anyzhing, idiote."

[Empiricist]

"No need to be embarrassed Miss Kikiuchi, we aren't accusing you of anything. I mean really, if you wish, I could try kissing her to prove that it means nothing to her."

"W-what?!
No! I-I mean, clearly he's drunk, so h-he can't be right. You said it yourself, M-Montanari-kun!"

"I know, but we may as well convince him, right?"
