Yes, in general his mental suggestion would not communicate concretes, though depending on the case (such as this one) it could possibly communicate the idea to the observer that he has solved the problem, and the observer's mind would fill in the blanks to make it seem that he's solved the problem as the observer would expect it to be solved. Of course, that's if the observer knows the solution.

Yeah. Basically the only reason it doesn't work as well  on Marie is that her mind is used to abstracts without concretes and apparent irrationalities and sees no need to explain such things away. Hence, you can tell her to view you as human and she does, but she doesn't feel the need to rationalize you to 'act' human. In some ways, it probably works better, since it doesn't require flights of fancy. However, if you used 'the solution' here she'd call you out on it.
