"Nope. He's just a little cutie."
Kyle has a different definition of "cute" than I.
And "little".
Snip
Well, GWG, if I-
Snip
questioned everything your character did while I was away
Snip
in detail, in a way that generally construes them as unintelligent
Snip
and otherwise gave a point-by-point complaint list,
Snip
it might feel a lot like I'm trying to refute your character OOC.
...Before I respond, what do you mean, "refute your character OOC"?

Almost all of your retcons seem to focus on Kyle's actions and why their stupid.
I don't get why you would think that.
as far as action justification goes, just replace the mantikors in the school with tigers
now imagine someone walking in with a flamethrower and burning them to death, instead of just trying to block some doors and lead the children out safely until backup has arrived to detain the tigers safely. nobody would have even for a second considered blasting the tigers to smitherens with super powers would be a better option than tranquilizzer darts.
if that viewpoint is so hard to understand, then you really have a problem of shifting your point of view.
The problem is, we didn't have any tranquilizer darts, only one guy crazy enough to feed a tiger and expect to tame it. So the analogy breaks down.
why would a manticore be more deserving of death than a tiger, and why would kyle saving one of them be a heinous deed?
It isn't...but Kyle claiming that us killing the manticores is heinous is rather unkind.
I mean sure, one of them attacked you, and killing that one was very much justified in that situation, but when we set out to find the other ones with the single goal to kill them, we were all being sort of psychopaths, and Kyle was the only one who did the right thing
Let's bring up the fact that they were
killing kids, and that Kyle only succeeded because
he rolled insanely well. Now consider: If Kyle rolled less than he did, maybe an 80, and hence failed to tame the manticore, do you think we would be having this discussion?
as far as "good debate" goes, I have PMd Elf about you more than once, and he said he talked to you about it. Now there is KJ. You might not notice it, because as you have shown, viewpoints are not your forte, but I strongly urge you that when people ask you to stop your condescending tone or they will quit the game, that maybe what you perceive as a debate is strongly insulting to others. we do not WANT to debate with you. it has been made clear that what you are doing is making it hard for us to enjoy the game. so please, please consider what constitutes as a good debate, and what constitutes as you just calling people wrong and stupid for being wrong
I'm not good at tones, IRL or in text, and I swear I haven't been trying. And failing to explain
why I'm being condescending isn't helping the problem.
And I'd have no problem with not debating if people didn't keep prickng me.
this is not a thread about being right or wrong. its just this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQl5aYhkF3E
Regardless if the thread is
about right and wrong, questions of the same can come up, and they have. And if you want them to stop coming up, stop bringing them up--that's a good first step.
Basically you're too blunt.
I think; I forget the exact word.
Yeah.
As much as I hate to, I have to side with Akroma and Twi here. While I myself am an aggressive debater, I can see why others may find it distressing that the justification behind the actions of other characters is sought OOC, not IC, in a fairly blunt manner.
"Hey, Kyle, I know you hate me but would you mind explaining why you think it's horrible of the guys at the school to have killed those manticores instead of trying their luck at taming one."It's just faster and more convenient to ask OOC than to try and construct scenarios in which the game to ask IC.
It is harder to justify the actions of someone you do not necessarily agree with...
Look, I'm not asking for
justification, I'm asking for
no justification. All I have ever asked for is explanation, and not even very often.
You can provide an
explanation for a genocide or a war, even if you think it was the complete wrong thing to do and can't justify it.
I'm probably going to focus slightly less on this game than on fanfic, GMing Bay 12 Rumble and playing E:G.
Not a criticism, but...well, how would you focus less on this game? It's GM'd by players 90% of the time already anyways.
If you don't want to GM this right now, put it on hiatus, restart it when you're ready, and see who wants to come back. Should cut down on player bloat some.
