Hmm... I wonder if this could function well using a dice pool system to help balance stats and randomness. The main advantage is that the randomness falls within a bell curve, hence controlling the randomness. Of course, the main disadvantage would be counting the successes, especially with characters such as Will who have a large portion of their stat points invested in a single stat.
