Just keep slashing it. Escape if it's too strong.
<8+2 vs 12-1>
<13+1 vs 14+0>
The render barely escapes your surprisingly clumsy attack, just as you barely manage to duck under its swiping claws.
<9+2 vs 15-1>
<13+1 vs 10+0> <2 damage>
You are less lucky as the creature flies away from your slash, and cuts into your shoulder.
<9+2 vs 11-1><6 damage>
Finally, your greatsword finds purchase, and really skewers the beast. It lets out a shriek, and seems to be gravely wounded already.
<9+1 vs 9> <1 damage>
This wound seems to have enraged the render, but also dropped its strength, as it only lightly scratches under your skin.
<16+2 vs 14-1><6 damage>
You manage skewer the beast again, and this time, its shriek ends abruptly, and it collapses on the ground, dead. Its head darkens, but stays just as featureless as before.
You finally have time to examine the room a little closer. There are more of those white tiles, and in the southwestern corner lies a rotted corpse. What's left of its clothing and backpack seems to suggest an adventurer. He or she may have been killed by the render. Otherwise, this room is pretty barren.
