I'll wait until this evening then enter the remaining names into the game roster and let the death begin.
I can't add anymore people once I start
BUT
I will be doing several games, because I suck and lose.

Update
I'll start the first game now!

The beginning of a great thing!
1957

Later that year Wernher Von Brains has been smuggled out of Germany to work for us.....

1958

The Mercury 7 have been picked! it was a hard choice! mostly because only a few showed real aptitude

Explorer I mission(Failed)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Recruit Rift has washed out of training(Congrats Rift)

1959

Explorer II mission(Success!)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
We have the eminent glory of being the second nation to put a chunk of metal into spess.

Later that year Explorer III was also a success(mainly just ironing out problems with the proton rocket at this point)

The podlings have graduated! it's time to see who needs more training and who is ready to be coerced volunteer to into spess!

More to come...

The race is on!

1959

Astronauts Orb and Squid get capsule training due to being incompetent morons. The rest enter the Mercury program as prospective nauts for the first Murrican man in spess!

Explorer IV mission a success, but the public are bored of Orbital Satellites now.

1960

I stocked up on Atlas rockets ready for the Mercury program, just to make sure I don't suddenly have a shortage when I need one and have to scrub a mission.

The Rooskies managed to get a man in spess first..... :(

Mercury 1 through 4 are scheduled to be unmanned orbitals, to iron out any problems with the capsule and ensure a safe journey for our podlings. First manned launch scheduled for 1961. Codecimal is planned for the prime seat.

Mercury 1-4 missions(unmanned) 1 success 3 malfunctions, hopefully can learn from these....

Orb and Squid finish extra training and are placed in the run up for a Mercury flight... in the last two spots of course.

1961

Mercury V mission is a success! for the first time in history a Kerbalnaut man has looked back down on earth from space.

Mercury VI Mission
The next flight begins as Astronaut Hugehead is taped inside the capsule......

Launch goes fine...

The orbital insertion is on the mark...

He performs an EVA with no issue...

He begins his deorbit burn...

Touchdown! he made it back alive!

Mercury VI mission is also a success!

One last thing for today....

Orb... I am disappoint in you, son.
Director Deadmeat says he 'neither confirms nor denies' that corners have been cut.

Also.. President Kennedy takes a moment away from his philandering to castigate us for our lack of progress.

Thats enough excitement for today...

1963

Mercury VII & VIII missions are unmanned tests in preparation for the final 4 manned missions planned. They go more or less to plan.

Astronaut Rilder goes up...
After a rocky flight up, a malfunction....

However this is the only hitch and after the extended orbit was cut short he splashes down fine and returns to NASA for medals and shit.

Nistenf the Argentinian goes up next..
..and achieves his multiple orbits successfully
Upon splashdown however there is a malfunction

Astronaut Nistenf is injured but alive after the capsule begins to sink upon landing.

Mercury XI
Astronauts Orb makes a full 22 orbits of the Earth before returning safely. Frankly no one gives a fuck at this point. It's all about the mun babeh.

In other news, Xeron was a physical washout and got kicked out of the service.

Ranger I & II missions
Ranger I manages to record and stream back spectacular images from the moon in a Lunar flyby. Ranger II has a communcations failure and flails around in space achieving nothing.
P.S. am on the brink of being fired by LBJ :( I'm not sure the Gemini program will be successful intime to save my career!

That's all for today... 1964 begins next time..

*Added Urist and Jetex to the list of 'to be added' for the next game!

The next round of spacemonkeys have graduated.

1965

Codecimal pussies out.

I never do anywhere near as many unmanned missions as you, and rush through Mercury and Gemeni to either Apollo or a direct ascent and seem to have fine populatiry with el Presidente - that might be why you got fired.

I don't usually too, I think I got fired because I didn't research Gemini quick enough and the soviets got ALL the first except EVA. But yeah, you're right. I pretty much did it because it was cheap to do, but I neglected to move onto Gemini quick enough and got my ass handed to me :( I was actually quite lucky with missions.
Gemini is the most important IMHO because it has a hell of alot of options for different prestige wins.

Submitted vote for soviet union. Also, in on the astronaut names list.

It would be hella sweet to do a human vs human. Could it be done by passing the save file every turn?

It's possible I think, I'll give it some testing(I'm pretty sure it was designed for hotseat only)

**It should be possible, if both sides promise not to cheat. Problem is you have to end turn in the other guys 'map' to start your own, or you end turn and see the other guys before saving(saves at end of turn).

You would be able to see unintentionally without clicking on any of their buildings:
  • enemies money
  • enemies news
    • 1what space programs they have started

1You can see this from the spy agency anyway.

*also, added.
