You rush at one of the ants which managed to dodge Umbramanto's shadowy breath and bring your sword down upon it, neatly severing it into two faintly-twitching and very dead halves. However, as you attempt to ready your blade again, it flies out of your hands and decapitates one of the ants that was wounded by Umbramanto, whirls straight through the head of the other wounded ant, and finally loses momentum before bouncing off the carapace of one of the last two ants and flying back into your hand. Well, that was certainly impressive, but your moment of marveling is cut short as your vision fills with blue. You're now looking at some sort of screen, with a message displayed in bold white text.

CONGRATULATIONS FOR ACHIEVING LEVEL TWO! PLEASE SELECT ONE OF YOUR STATS TO INCREASE BY ONE!

You hear a faint locking sound as your glow expands like a black shockwave centered around yourself, but the two ants cling tightly to the ground and manage to avoid being knocked away.

You let loose an ear-splitting roar as you cloak your claws in red energy and shred one of the ants until it is little more than a pile of melted chitin.

Point spear towards the ants and mutter some magic sounding words.

Lloyd quickly points his spear at the sole remaining ant and says some sort of incantation, causing the spear to gleam brightly for a moment as a stream of black particles erupt from the ant's cephalothorax and fly into the weapon. The ant collapses to the ground after this, and Lloyd mutters something else which causes the spear to stop glimmering.
"The best part about designing something yourself is that you know all the little tricks to it. You know, they Endless Sabbath was originally supposed to have a design and crafting system to it. Hell, knowing some of the higher ups, it's probably in there somewhere. Once you find a town or something, you might want to make some armor for yourselves or something. But first, let's focus on the task at hand."

Well, it looks like everyone else has already beaten you to the punch on this one.

Ahaha... Blegh. You really don't know when to stop, you labcoat you. Sure I'll join you, but you talk too much. Don't worry, you'll be out soon enough.

Transport labcoat to the storage dimension. Even if unsuccessful, travel in some random direction not up the mountain.

Well, you try to open a portal, but your head hurts way too much to focus on magic. Cursing angrily and rubbing the grapefruit-sized welt on your head, you walk away from the mountains and into a scrubby desert dotted with wiry pines.

You arrange the stones into a plus shape and close the book. A boulder off to the side of you about the size of a small car immediately develops a black glow and crumbles apart, leaving behind a lump of what looks like solid iron, which glows black and vibrates softly.

RAAUGH FUCK YOU LABCOAT, fuck this realm, fuck spacetime, I liked the other dimension better. I hear Bella made me some delicious human-face steak while I was gone. Maybe if I get some of that I'll be more motivated to come back here...
Even if I die horribly, attempt to reenter the Looter's Delight universe, or any other dimension if that fails, because REASONS.

Umbramanto moves into nearby shadow, be it shadow created by some rock or something else, and starts absorbing it into his own and using it to fix his form, namely the leg. Done with that Umbramanto spreads his wings and takes off, continuing through the path, but this time looking for ambushes from above.

Shock! Awe! Fandango certainly wasn't expecting that to happen, but it was so COOL. There's no way that had to be a fluke. He'll have to get it properly appraised when they get into town. This level-up screen seems kind of dated, though. "Still, I could get used to this."

Increase Reflexes by 1. Assuming that's all to the level-up process, Fandango moves up the path himself, eager to try his weapon out again the next time they run into trouble.
