Same words! Throw in a few angry flourishes.

[Pot:3+1]  A shimmering image of what appears to be a fencing sword appears, then fades without effect.

Examine the book. Try to search for any author while doing so, or any other words which would give identification or warning.

While proceeding to the southern room.

There's no text, writing, or anything on the covers or the spine- well, ignoring the scuffs, burns, and- yeah, that's clearly a bloodstain.  The pages (besides the first, and the ones you can't read) just have a page number, words, and usually a symbol of some sort.

You head into the spike room as Derek begins a spell attempt.

"Nodi?" he squeaks nervously, pointing a trembling finger at the spikes near the south end of the wall.

You point at a promising spike and speak your word.

[Pot:1+1]  You're not sure, but you thought you saw a bit of grey fog over your right shoulder for a split second.

Movement and research!

You move away from the pile and start testing again.

[Pot:3]  A clog of hair the size of a rat appears and lands.  Nice.

[Pot:4]  A spherical shimmering image appears and fades away.

[Pot:2]  You get another shimmering effect, but it's so fuzzy and unclear you have no idea what it is.

[Pot:3]  Yet another shimmering blob.  Uh... it's wider at the bottom than the top?

[Pot:2]  Another unidentifiable blob.

Not quite so successful, this time.

Gesture at Xantalos. Say the magic word Fangshm.

You lack the innate magical power to use the words.  As far as magical body language... yeah, whacking someone with the book is probably your best bet.  You could always just punch him.

Go through the narrow passage to the other room in the south. Try the words "Tepsy Necti", then "Smastendip" aimed at the ground behind me.

You run off with the battleaxe before anyone gets any ideas, and join Derek and Myra in the spike room.  Magic time!

[Pot:5+1]  A gentle colorless glow appears around your left arm.  It fades in intensity, but it doesn't go away completely.  Huh.  Well, let's try this other one.

[Pot:2+1]  A faint shimmer appears in the air.  It's long and thin with a blob at one end... you think.

Cast Fircerain at the ground below.

[Pot:6-1]  A shimmering image appears in the air before you.  Hmm... yeah, that's a whip.   Too bad it faded away.

Point at wall, say word

You awaken from your stupor.  Seeing that many of the others have already wandered off, you just menace the nearest wall.

[Pot:5+1] A big pile of bones clatters to the ground in front of you.  Many of them are clearly larger than human.

Derek closes the book shut with a snap when he realizes someone else is in the room.  "I don't know what's going on!  I swear!"

He can't help but feel a bit disappointed that nothing really interesting happened.  Sure, no one ever said Derek had magical qualities, but it would certainly help to be magical since everyone is so weird around here.

"Do you know what this thing is?  This creepy book filled with gibberish?" he asks Myra, since she looks mostly okay.

The sudden approach of Chanala and his battleaxe startles the already nervous Derek, and he repeats "Nodi" again, this time unwittingly at Chanala.

Offer an alliance with the other people in my room, so that we can find the way out of here easier. After that, speak the words "Puboub Olitylari Enlastax".

I guess this works same as Perplexicon in that stuff, and if its so, Fircerain is Whip. But what that whip is made out of? Nothing. Thus it dissapears. You have to add a second word that gives it a material: Shareeb Shubba in Perplexicon would be Metal Rod, here (Material) Fircerain.
