(Alright. This'll get better m'kay? What's important right now is that we get moving.)

The one named Lore waits for a moment, then blows a haughty sniff and pads away without waiting to see if the boy follows. Alex hesitates, and Cromwell quietly offers to go with him. He glances nervously at the bent old man's thinly robed back, bobbing like a sway-backed horse. He wonders if he should perhaps ask after permission to bring his friend.... No; for if he said no he isn't sure if he could bring himself to lift his legs, weighed as they were by fear, both of this unknown place and of the angry old coot shuffling away down the candlelit hall.

Alex and Cromwell follow the old man as they head to his study. The shelves stretch high, from floor to ceiling, and each one is stuffed tightly with dusty books and moth-eaten scrolls.

There's a hood, and you like to keep it bunched up around your neck to keep you warm.

Alex doesn't have any time to pose such a question, for Lore, despite his awkward, arthritic movement, still manages a brisk pace.

In no time the two boys arrive in the old man's study. Much like the rest of the library, every possible space is crammed with tied, bound or folded parchment. He rummages through said parchment, muttering to himself as he does. He waves one hand at the two of you without looking up. Just sit anywhere. He barks and the two of you eye the furniture doubtfully. The only thing that isn't completely blanketed in paper is the floor so you settle for crossing your legs on the smooth stone.

Back at the library common Beth and Derry are resting on a bench, the girl slumped against her companion's shoulder, her breathing soft and even, and his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Kyle is distracted by the documents stacked upon the grand library's shelves, and not far away Dran and Jerik are locked in private conversation.
