Derry is shaking, glancing between the two of them. The moment the treatment is done, he bolts.

"Alright, we should be done. You're free to go."

Derry bolts.

"...I think." Alex looks a bit nervous.

[Dwarmin]

"Wa..." She says as he runs, not looking back. She looks unhappy.

"That boy just needs a friend." She says, not to anyone particular. She turns to Alex. "Anyone, my names Beth. Thanks for fixing him up...he should be okay, at least physically."

[mastahcheese]

Jack walks down from his vantage point, and is practically knocked down as someone bumps into him as they run past.

"Hey! Watch where you're-...
Ah, he's already gone, crazy person, now where's a better vantage point?"

Jacks heads out in search of higher ground.

"Wa..." She says as he runs, not looking back. She looks unhappy.

"Y-yeah...that's good."

[Dwarmin]

"What's wrong? Are you nervous too?" She asks, hearing a stutter.

"A little...whenever I've healed someone before, there was always a healer or a priest or someone watching and telling me to stop whenever I was about to make a mistake. That didn't happen this time."

((Tempted to have had Alex have put the wrong ointment on Derry. A couple of reasons why, such as "humor" potential and helping explain why Alex isn't working in the church any more.))

[Dwarmin]

"I dunno, he didn't stick around, but it seemed like you did a good job to me."

"Thanks."

[Dwarmin]

She nods, looking at him sidewise.

"So, what's your name? Do you live here in temple, or just work here?"

"I'm Alex. I live here, yeah. Been here my whole life. And you, where are you from?"

[Dwarmin]

"My Dad and I live a bit out of town-if you've ever seen the old inn on the city outskirts, we're not far from there.

So are you like...a priest in training?"

Derry eventually keels over in an alley and drags himself under a building with a crawlspace. Sleep does not come easily or quickly.

"Kinda, I guess. I mean, that's what the priests all seem to want me to be, but I don't really want to be. It's boring, you don't learn anything new or even try, you just keep saying the same things over and over to new people. Being a healer seems a little more interesting, but it's still dull."

He glances at the ointment he gave to Derry. "I feel like I've forgotten something..."

When Derry wakes up, he will discover that his skin where the ointment was rubbed seems to be flaking off, like after a bad sunburn. No pain, though.

[Dwarmin]

"It's probably nothing.

So, if you don't wanna be a healer and you don't wanna be a Priest what do you want to be? My Dad says everyone is who they choose to be."
