You consider your alarming burn for a moment. You're pretty sure it's not something that can't wait until after lunch - it hurts a bit, but you think it's been done with some sort of strange tool, probably as a measure to prevent infection or bleeding out or something. Judging by the way your uniform was bloodied, you probably needed it badly. Right now, though, what you need is a spot of tea. You head over to the engineered cafeteria to indulge yourself, taking the elevator up.

The cafeteria doesn't look crowded. In fact, there's nobody here yet aside from the cafeteria workers. You notice that they're all Jasmine Thymes as well - though you live in the same dormitory, you haven't really acquainted yourself with them. You notice that their uniforms are exactly like yours as well. You walk up to one who doesn't look overly busy setting up the menu or placing trays of food.

"Um, hello, may I have some tea?"

The Jasmine turns to you, looking mildly surprised at your presence.

"Hm? Oh, right. Sure."

She leans over to the drink machine, making a quick five-button selection.

"Greenish Fields, right?" she asks with a knowing smile.

"Hey, that's my favorite! How did- oh, wait," you cut off your question, since you kind of already know the answer. Jasmine grins at you, producing a nice cup of your favorite tea.

"Will that be all?"

You are about to say yes, but then realize that there's nobody else around to ask about the painting thing.

"Actually, do you know where I could get some paint?"

"Um... no, sorry. It's not among the things you can get in the requisition machines, I think."

Oh well. You sit down and drink your tea in peace, enjoying every moment quite a bit. This cafeteria's real quiet right now aside from the Jasmines busily working at something in the kitchen. When you're done with the tea, you sit and think on what to do. You could go visit a doctor, try to use the therapist uplink, maybe even make an appointment with Ms. Bartolucci to get some info on what happened to you today and to check if you're alright. Or maybe... wait, isn't your shift about to start? It's lunchtime, and you are the hostess today. Unless something's changed that you don't remember.

Check if our shifts about to start, if it is, do our duty.

You head up to the boss' cafeteria, intent on asking the Jasmines about your shift. Taking the elevator up, you go into the cafeteria, hoping you aren't late for anything.

Unusually, though, you see the Jasmines all sitting around the same table, talking among one another. You cautiously approach.

"Um... I was wondering if my shift was still on, and..."

Jasmine Fifty Three turns to you immediately, followed by all the others. She looks worried.

"Jasmine! You're alright! Thank goodness!" she says, clearly relieved.

"What happened out there? Is the air really toxic?" Seventy Eight asks you.

"And where's the other guy? The squid fan?" Fifty Four adds.

Well, at least they seem glad to see you. So you suppose you've done good, if you discount the amnesia and minor trauma.

Mention the environmental suit and your wound. Suggest that bad things probably happened. Tell them that Johnathan said ms. Bartolucci would recover.

"I don't really know what happened out there. Don't remember anything that happened from... well, about last night or so. I just woke up in an environmental suit, got a wound on my belly, plus the air was kind of toxic, so whatever happened, I doubt it was good," you explain. "Also, who's the squid guy?"

"Wait, you don't remember a thing? Not even the squid guy? Fella ordered three bottles of wine, took two with him? Wanted illegal boiled squid?" Fifty Four questions.

"There were these several accidents on the magnetic rail or guideway or whatever they call them - one resulted in this chemical spill, it's been all over the news. And it's probably the netlink that malfunctioned - causes memory loss. No point in trying to jog her memory, Jasmine," Fifty Three says, interjecting before you can say something very similar.

"I remember when I first tried to access the net - felt like my brain would explode," Seventy Nine mentions in an offhand fashion.

"Well, point is, things are really screwed-up outside, Jasmine. We're really glad you're mostly okay," Fifty Three continues.

"Jonathan at reception said that Ms. Bartolucci will recover as well. That's good, too," you mention.

"Thank goodness for that as well. I don't know what would happen to us otherwise," Seventy Eight says with concern.

"Feels kind of odd to have the rest of the day off, though," Seventy Nine says, handily providing you with the information you were actually here for.

Seeing as you have little better to do as far as you know, you propose an idea.

"How about we go to the employee lounge? We could play some party games."

"I could go for a game of poker myself," Fifty Three sort of concurs. "Don't see why we can't play here, though."

"I've got a deck of cards and a domino set back in my room," Fifty Four says.

"What do the rest of you think?" Fifty Three asks Seventy Eight and Seventy Nine, who shrug in a vaguely affirmative manner. Then she turns to you. "Yeah, I guess we could play a game if you want to," she tells you. For some reason, you shiver.

Ah, well ... to be honest I kinda expected the in-game card game or whatnot to get rolling, be interrupted by events, and plots to be advanced.

play some relaxation games with clone sisters. Ask for advice on recovering memory or adapting to the loss. find out if we should use our therapist. Book a trip to Antartica.

That should keep us occupied for a bit.

You play dominoes with the other Jasmines idly after Jasmine Fifty-Four returns from her room with her domino set, making general smalltalk as you do so, mentioning everything from the weather to the latest news. It kind of feels like a verbal duel, an exercise in competitive icebreaking, if you will. Guess that's what happens when you play with people made for this sort of thing. You do, however, manage to get a bit of information out of them.

"Hey, have you got any experience dealing with memory loss? Can't I recover anything?"

"Nah, it's overwritten by now. The newslink is a bit... unsubtle that way," Seventy-Nine tells you.

"But if you're still broken up about it, you should see the therapist. Maybe he can help," Fifty-Three adds, and, not being able to think of much to ask further, you desist in this line of questioning. Your thoughts are then consumed by the notion that maybe you should go to Antarctica. Too bad you don't have money, though, being a mere underling. And you're not sure you even have any time when you're not working. Maybe you should inquire about that.

By the way, you're running a bit of a hot streak today. Over several games, you manage to consistently win across the board. In the meantime, Jasmine Fifty-Three does rather dismally, losing practically every time. You actually get a bit competitive with Fifty-Four, who does almost as well as you do. Almost.

At the end of the last game, Jasmine Fifty-Three shakes her head, then looks at you.

"Well, I'm definitely out of luck today. You win, Jasmine."

You consider raising your arms in victory, but then think better of it. Best not to be an insufferable winner. After all, according to the rules, Jasmine Fifty-Three, as the overall loser, has to do something for you now anyway. As far as you know, it can be pretty much anything that's at least semi-legal. You remember when you lost once - it was two months ago, your first game with your sisters. Jasmine Seventy-Eight asked you to finish the jar of pickled eggs that Ms. Bartolucci had apparently brought to the kitchen several weeks before. Your stomach felt queasy for two days afterwards.

"So, what's it going to be?" Jasmine Fifty-Three asks you expectantly.

Focus on ECMTC negligence, say that we would like to think a bit before we collect our favor. Think about possible things we could do to humiliate 53.
