SEnd the snake back to the depths of the world with my beard.

What snakes?

You have never seen any snakes. Or serpents.

You are not sure why the voice in your head is telling you to do things to animals which aren't there.

Create a golem suit for myself.
Also, do you know how many turns it will be until I arrive?

Two things- A: You forgot to give me +3 mining because I am looking for ores, and B: Try it AGAIN!
You tried to mine with a mallet, your argument is invalid.

Hey mistermastahofcheeses? Since you're including power levels of the gods could you by chance show who the most powerful Wizards/dragons/dwarves/etc. are as well?
Kinda wanna know how I stack up :P
I'm not including "power levels", I am explaining the various strengths and weaknesses of each.
And actually, yeah, I might as well do that.

I can tell you right now though, that you'll be disappointed.

Advance human tecnology.
I'm betting that this will fail.
Anyone wanna take the long odds?
Ok, I'll take the long odds, and I'll tell you why by explaining the way Tech Levels work in this game.
This will also explain some of those new rules I promised earlier.

How Tech Levels work:
Now that the Gods have begun their sleep, progress in the world is determined by how advanced sentient species have become.
Tech levels grant various bonuses, in the field of battle and other cases of contest against another race, those with higher tech levels will gain an advantage over those with weaker tech, granting a +1 bonus for each level higher than the opponent, up to the maximum of +3. Your tech level will also determine what type of units you can build, what types of buildings can be made, and so on. In human history, need is the mother of invention, and attempting to raise your tech level when you are already the highest in the world will range from incredibly difficult, to outright impossible. If you do not have the highest tech level, then you both have a need of a higher tech, plus an example to go on, giving you a bonus.
In real life, the evolution of war can be seen as each new invention is followed by another invention, designed to counteract the first.
Killed by swords? Shoot them with a crossbow. Killed by guns? Build a tank.

"It is from their foes, not their friends, that cities learn the lesson of building high walls."

To advance in your tech level, you need some reason to do so from a competitive standpoint, the Dwarves can't raise their tech level because the second highest level is that of the Lamias, at the Copper Age. This would put the Dwarves effectively 5 to 6 levels above them. The Dwarves are quite advanced. However, they would still only gain the max of +3 were they to go to war.

You may have noticed that the "Dwarven Age" is not actually anywhere on this list. This is because the Dwarven Age is a special age, in that it permits the usage of advanced materials, such as steel and adamantine, before they would normally be allowed, giving them a large bonus over other techs, but while only giving them the unit types of a lower tech. Otherwise the dwarves would have railroads at this point.

This is an example of a tech level that provides a high tech bonus while providing low tech unit types, an inverted example, where there would be high tech units with a low tech bonus, would be along the lines of a clockwork age.

Wrong cavern layer, unless I missed one thing fairly major.
No, you got it right, it's the wrong layer.

Also, do you know how many turns it will be until I arrive?
One if the portal works
This. If unsuccessful, I'll have to pull up the world map and work on that again like I did with the dragons.

I know the tech level thing makes sense gameplaywise, but it still makes no sense. Why would people not advance their tech while at peace? Sure war gets it to go faster, but still.

By this logic, could we improve our technology in peacetime by sacrificing members of our population, turning them into one-man nations and killing them off to test your death rays?

No, that's not the point of the system.

Fine... Commit suicide, my stuff disintegrates.

Spawn as a human, away from the other humans, just a few miles away from the dwarf fortress. Spawn with an iron pickaxe and puffy mammoth fur jacket.
