Long ago, when the world was still young, men were ruled from on high by dragons. Cruel reptillian beasts, the dragons forced mankind to toil away for their benefits, mining gold and gems to line their hordes, raising fat cattle for the dragons to feast upon, and taking the most beautiful maidens to devour whole. Mankind suffered under draconian rule for untold age.
A millennia ago however, five brave heroes brandishing weapons given to them by God, confronted the dragon king and slew him in his keep. The Archmage Onsgaria sealed all the dragons away in another dimension, that humans might rule themselves. And that is how the five lands of Ostcar came to be. Exsten in the Southeast, named and first ruled by the brave swordsman who slew the Dragon King. Durhiel in the Southwest, for the axe wielding right hand man of the hero Exsten. Ulfijan in the Northwest, for the Eagle eyed lady champion who wounded the Dragon King with her mighty bow. And in the Northeast, Worus, home to the Knight of the Holy Lance. And lastly, the Magic Kingdom of Osngaria, named for the Archmage that banished the wicked dragons from this realm.
For many years, peace reigned. But as new blood ascended the thrones, old struggles and alliances were forgotten. the Kingdom of Osngaria grew greedy, uncontent with the small allotment of land their forebear claimed, and sought to expand. Fierce, bloody battles from all sides, until peace eventually returned. For a time. Now, the Kingdom of Exsten has launched a massive attack against both Durhiel and Osngaria. All reports tell that Osngaria has fallen beneath the boots of Exstenese soldiers, and Durhiel's forces are being wiped out by the onslaught as well. Drahool, the king of Durhiel, has sent his only children to to Uljifan, their staunch ally, even as he begins to prepare his last stand...
Another Fire Emblem on Forums, this time run by me! Because there can never, ever be enough Fire Emblem.
In Character thread here! The book used up through Chapter four- No longer in use!The Handbook we are currently using!Ulfijan is an empire. The law of the land is that though the throne is succeeded by the current Emperor's first born child, anyone may challenge the Emperor for the throne. However, this rarely happens as the incumbent may choose the method of the duel. The Emperor often chooses to use the Divine Bow, Brahmastra, and only once has this been insufficient to defend the throne. Ulfijan is home to the world's largest force of pegasus knights, though they do not have a monopoly. The political hierarchy of Ulfijan starts at the top with the Emperor, or Empress. The Empress gives instruction and receives reports from the four Dukes. The Dukes give orders and receive reports from the Counts, who are above magistrates, who preside over small provinces.
The Kingdom of Durhiel is presided over by the royal family, direct descendants of the great hero Durhiel. It's military is best known for its large numbers of cavaliers and bow knights, who sweep across the plains of Durhiel. The wide plains allow for bountiful harvests of many different grains and vegetables. The Divine Axe, Gram, belongs to the Royal Family.
The Kingdom of Osngaria now concerns itself primarily with the study of magic. Scholars come from the whole world over to learn of both new advances and ancient discovery. Of course, the owners of the libraries ask a price... The government is technically a monarchy, but the current King sees no reason to do much in the way of ruling, and leaves the people to handle themselves. Their military is unique in that the majority of it's forces are magic users, rather than physical fighters.
The Kingdom of Exsten is a powerful country with an extremely strong centralized government. Military service is required by law for all men between the ages of 16 to 20, though there are many career soldiers. The land of Exsten is blessed with many forests that bear wild fruit, and orchards are just as common. The sea is another huge resource for the people of Exsten, and dried fish is a common staple in inland households. The Exsten military is famed for their flawlessly trained foot soldiers. The Divine Blade, Allondight, is the treasure of the royal family.
The Confederation of Worus was once a kingdom, but was split by a civil war a mere 80 years since its formation. The surviving scion of House Worus reunited the country, but refused to place himself as king, and elevated 16 minor nobles to a council that would govern the country. Worus makes its money in trade goods, and wool, herded by shepherds in the highlands of the west end of the country. The council has a standing army, but it is supplemented often with mercenaries, who are easily found by throwing a stone anywhere in Worus. Worus' blood line carries on to this day, and is yet a member of the great council, and still lays claim to the Divine Lance, Ascalon.
The Forsaken Lands, technically a part of Osngaria, are named well. It is little more than rocky desert, the high mountains surrounding it denying the parched earth any rain. No one ever leaves, because no one bothers to enter.
As always, a few rules are changed:
1. Con does not effect item limits. Everyone has 5 inventory spaces. No more, no less, except when class features say otherwise.
2. Certain skills are unavailable or altered. Blossom: Instead of getting extra rolls and nerfed exp, you simply get an extra 5% to all progressions. This can push you over the normal maximum for a stat. Reinforce: unavailable. Corrosion: unavailable. Discipline: At every 10th total level, a weapon subcategory of your choice that you have access to advances by one rank. Charisma and Daunt: These skills do not stack. 3 people with Charisma sitting together do not get +20 hit and evade together.
3. A mounted unit's constitution does not increase while mounted. Only their AID increases. If rescued, a mounted unit automatically dismounts, and their mount will remain in the space where the character was rescued from. The unit must return to that space to ride again.
4. Berserkers gain the Critical Eye class feature, like a Samurai or Sentinel.
5. Luck is not halved before being factored into hit rates. No longer relevant!
In any case, players will be starting from trainee classes. I will roll for your affinity twice. You may choose from those two.
