One of the mechanics that I had in mind was the ability to have characters switch out mid-combat.  The only way to win a match is to defeat the entire team of your opponent.

There is a misunderstanding here.  You get 3 members on your team that switch out at any time mid-battle.  There is no secondary team.

Abilities:
"Why They Call Me Revolver": Allows Ocelot to be highly accurate with his weapon, reload it faster, and attack as quickly as someone with an automatic.
Ricochet Genius: Can hit people behind cover.
Quick: Moving quicker than most would expect a man of his age to move allows Ocelot to reach cover quickly.
Damage Tolerance: Even losing an arm won't slow him down for long. As such he is able to be relatively useful even if he is highly injured.

Role in Series: Antagonist
Abilities:
Vine Whip: Can manipulate powerful vines on its body to use similarly to arms but with greater reach.
Razor Leaf: Launches a razor sharp leaf capable of high damage.
Body Slam: Using its great weight it can crush smaller opponents and stumble bigger ones.
Solar Beam: Concentrating the sun's power into a laser of almost unimaginable power takes time but is one of the strongest moves in Nerjin's Mercenaries arsenal.

Role in Series: Antagonist
Abilities:
Thick Skinned: The Tank has very high health due to its thick skin.
Rock Throw: Ripping a chunk of rock from the ground provides the Tank with a decent range attack.
Muscles: The Tanks herculean strength allows him to perform many feats such as punching a fully-grown human several dozens of feet away.
Bone-Head: Head-Shots do not deal extra damage to the tank.

This should be good yes? I tried not to make any of them over-powered cause that makes the game less fun. Feel free to suggest changes.

It is 1v1, but you switch between 3 characters on each side.  Maybe.  That may change.

Changed it. Pokemon are neutral so I figure it'd be fine. If I STILL gotta change it to something else entirely I'll need some time.

Pokemon don't actually have protagonists (no Pokemon protagonists in the main series) and League of Legends has no actual protagonists or antagonists.

Also, changed my submission to suit 1v1. Singed and Orpheus Telos are useless and OP in a duel respectively.

Game Series of Origin: Dead or Alive
Role in Series: Noble And Just Hero (playable character with some questionable qualities)
Abilities:
Combo: Attacks an enemy with a series of individual punches and/or kicks. If the first few hit, the enemy is usually stunned for the remainder of the combo, which often ends with a more powerful finisher that knocks them back (and often down). Ayane favors very spin-happy attacks.
Counter: Grabs an enemy mid-attack by correctly predicting what they're trying to do, dealing massive damage in a counter-attack. Predicting incorrectly results in taking slightly more damage.
Guard: Shields a certain region of the body from attack, negating all damage dealt to it. Does nothing against throws or attacks to a different part of the body.
Grab: Grabs an enemy and then does things to them, usually resulting in them being thrown away and dealt damage. Goes right through opponent's attempts to guard, but can be countered.
Drill Kick: Launches herself forward in a spinning feet-first kick that usually slams enemies far away if it hits.
Rear Guard: Ayane is adept at attacking opponents behind her, allowing her to deliver spin assaults and rolling upward kicks to rear enemies without difficulty.

Role in Series: Hero
Abilities:
BFS: Guts proficiently wields a sword taller than he is and appropriately thick. This has all of the usual applications regarding butchering anything that gets in his way.
Cannon Arm: One of Guts' forearms is actually a magnetic prosthetic with a cannon built into it.
Berserk: Guts is rather determined, and can continue fighting even after taking damage that would kill most men.

Game Series of Origin: League of Legends
Role in Series: Villain-ish, though as noted that's a somewhat arbitrary designation
Abilities:
Auto Attack: Urgot fires small green energy balls to attack normally.
Zaun-Touched Bolt Augmenter: Urgot's autoattacks and Acid Hunters reduce his target's damage output by 15% for a few seconds.
Acid Hunter: Urgot fires a spike-like missile in a straight line, dealing fair damage if it hits. If fired at a target afflicted by Noxian Corrosive Charge, Acid Hunters can lock onto the target, increasing their range and causing them to seek out the target and bypass obstacles as opposed to traveling in a straight line.
Terror Capacitor: Urgot generates a weak shield around himself, absorbing a certain amount of damage before collapsing. While the shield holds, his autoattacks and Acid Hunters slow the target's movement speed.
Noxian Corrosive Charge: Urgot fires a cask of acid at a target location. Targets struck have their armor greatly reduced (increasing the physical damage they take) and take damage over time for a few seconds. In addition, Acid Hunters can lock on to affected targets, increasing their range and causing them to seek out the target rather than traveling in a straight line.
Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverser: Urgot stuns the target for a few seconds while channeling himself, greatly increasing his resistance to damage in the process. Once completed, Urgot and the target switch places. Urgot retains his damage resistance and the target's movement speed is massively slowed for a few seconds afterwards.
