Preserve a Nickel Titan
« on: May 23, 2013, 10:48:52 am »

Just took down a marsh titan made of nickel (now in 6 pieces, 4 feet, 1 head, 1 body).  It killed a dwarf in the battle.  Is there any way I can preserve the body parts in a shrine to the dead dwarf?

Was looking at using a refuse pile to store the body parts - but they will eventually rot away?  Or will it leave me bones & skull?  Shame it doesn't leave a statue like a bronze collosus.

Its late at night, or I'd go roving the net - any help would be appreciated.  If I get a chance, I'll write up the battle story if there is any interest.

yes, fairly simply.  You need to turn of all your dump zones, and then designate a dump zone for wherever you want the titan pieces (or several so they're strewn about).  Then dump the titan, reset all your zones, and you're good.

Don't forget to memorialize the titan as well.

Odd, parts are being carried to a refuse dump - but I looked through the settings for Titan & Marsh Titan and couldn't find it.  Anyone know if it IS in there - and I just missed it?  If so, could you give me pointers please?

@slothen - was afraid I'd have to do a dump move, hoped there was some other way.

On a related matter
The hammerdwarf that got the killing blow went and named her masterwork silver hammer.  I did have, however, an artifact lead warhammer lined up for her to take.

Which is better?  I can leave her the named hammer and give the artifact to another.  If I do give it to her, what should I do with her named silver hammer?  Tried reading wiki and other references for the advantages of named weapons, but couldn't find anything definitive.

Shame titans can't be recycled. I'd encrust something with my wood opal titan.

Cool, but wouldn't this likely lead to tongues having a '[SPEACH]' tag, and thus via necromancy we would have nearly unkillable reanimated tongues following necromancers spamming 'it is sad but not unexpected'?

DANGIT THAT'S THE LINK COLOUR ON ANOTHER FORUM. I HATH BEEN TROLLED NOOOOOO-

Oh yeah a topic. Preservation would be nice, but a nickel coffin decorated with VALUABLE STUFF would probably add more irony.

You say... there are are roads, which are not made of gold?
Bah. Elvenstuff. Real Dwarfs do only build with gold. And obsidian.

PRESERVE TITAN'S BODY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE

Well, its now on a refuse stockpile surrounding the coffin of the slain dwarf.  The whole lot of which is enclosed with Exceptional clear windows in what is currently my festhall, which will morph eventually to my memorial hall.  Oh, I've also got 3 minotaur skeletons now entombed in the hall behind clear glass too, all 4 beasts plus dwarf with memorial slabs.

Will move dining hall down once I've finished obsidian casting the 10 Zlevel colliseum (dining halls overlooking the future arena).

P.S. not sure if the nickel head, body, feet x4 will decompose on the refuse pile to nickel skull + bones.  Anyone know?
