If we post sentries, we will be noticed. We got no camouflaged units, nor any coldadapted ones. And we haven't got the royal jelly to make them.

And does it matter if they come and go? They won't find anything, after all.

Edit: Them finding us is a very significant event. There are species out there that would scorch the planet just to get rid of us.

Then we need more infrastructure, especially royal jelly. If we are going to both remain unseen and ensure that we don't end up with a nasty surprise, we will need camouflage of some kind. While appropriate carapace coloring would be preferred for this, camouflage uniforms and camo netting would be better than nothing.

Exactly. For the paranoid we could try and get one of the salvaged auto-sentries set up inside the entrance, but I place that as a fairly low priority right now. The food situation as well as increasing our numbers and safeguarding the hybrids should be our highest priority.

I think we can safely stay underground until our first eggs develop into our first little army (We should use the LVL2 soldier for the first mating), than start raiding

As for more short term stuff, yep, looking for ice is important, water is a very important resource.  Also, some reliable carbon source is also required, with queen's ability to make iron bolls from martian soil we can get as much steel as we need to.

Martian ice contains carbon dioxide, IIRC.

Well, it can, in that it gets cold enough for CO2 to snow out at times (especially in the southern hemisphere). Really though, the atmosphere itself is the best source of carbon we have. Perhaps grubs could be specialized to consume soil, inhale atmosphere, and secrete steel (and slag) after receiving sufficient nutrition. Maybe even a new specialist builder drone idea, once we have more Royal Jelly.

*Noxes is struck by a strange Mood!*

I'VE GOT IT! If the grubs can eat nearly anything and our whole species is quite modifiable WHY NOT STEEL SPIDERWEB!?! OR!!! HORRIBLE BOMBARDIER BEETLE LIKE THINGS WHICH EAT IRON AND ALUMINUM AND SPRAY THERMITE!!!

I like this idea entirely too much; giant horrible steel webbed spiders and tank sized beetles that can burn down cities... YES, THE HUMANS SHALL BURN. Not Now, but Later.

Regardless of whether it flies or not, we do need some form of recon. Could we create a radar system with the materials we salvaged from the crashed ship?

The CAD system has blueprints for a great deal of machinery, and Sensory Arrays are included in this.

As a note, the system It doesn't have a "giant comprehensive list of every device We have invented ever in the history of us", but it does have the basics needed to industrialize, create biolab equipment, and a small handful of useful devices. If the computer goes down or is lost, most if not all of the possible tech is lost. So, You really don't want to lose or damage it, because it would lead to being absolutely fucked.

If we post sentries, we will be noticed. We got no camouflaged units, nor any coldadapted ones. And we haven't got the royal jelly to make them.

And does it matter if they come and go? They won't find anything, after all.

Edit: Them finding us is a very significant event. There are species out there that would scorch the planet blow up the sun just to get rid of us.

Minor edit there. It's a full-out Class X-2 Apocalypse scenario.

The Nurse slowly processes elements that it consumes and breathes, as do the Grubs. Obviously, two Grubs and 1 Nurse can't replenish the Universal Elemental Stocks faster than we can use them.

As an additional note, I'd like to point out that our element/resource supplies are as follows:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I can't tell you exactly how much because it's not that hard of sci-fi, but I can tell you that as it stands, we have more than enough to establish an industrial base and equip our tiny little army. Once the eggs get going, the supplies will run out quickly.

EDIT: I go to see the girlfriend today and this weekend. Updates will continue, but slowly. :)

As it stands, the propose course of night-actions, by priority, are:

Queen:
- Dig Queen's Chamber + Nursery + Warm/Light Flower Garden
- Plant and develop Queen's Flower
- Will eggs to develop into Digging Drone eggs
- (Maybe turn Grub eggs into Bore Worm eggs?)

Tech/Nav/Nurse:
- Fabricate basic digging equipment
- Repair Stasis and Biorecycler
- Begin assembly of Food Synthesizer
- Begin assembly of industrial base
- (Maybe begin assembly of Sensory Array?)

Soldiers/Spare Drones:
- Attempt to locate ice
- (Maybe send soldiers into stasis to conserve resources?)

Is this correct, and/or any other suggestions?

Yes. And we really need more food, to reiterate.

I worry that bore worms could cause trouble if we stop paying attention for some reason and they just run off building burrows everywhere...

I would like some sort of stealthy scouts, probably with some burrowing capacity to hide themselves under sand and a heavily thermal-shielded carapace and low aspect...
