"Well, I really needed the image of our horrible deaths. Thanks guys." Kyle as you could probably guess was being sarcastic.

"Icarus...isn't that the kid who fell to his death from flying too close to the sun?"

"Seems you should brush up on your mythology, 'Commandant'" Weston said, while smirking. "Unless, of course, you WANT to be known as the organization that reached beyond it's capabilities and got burned."

"I am aware of the significance of the name. It serves as both a goal and a warning: advance the human race, but be wary of flying too high. Also, I am no longer Commandant. I gave up that office to run Icarus."

Slade presses a button, and the bars of the cages retract.

"If you will follow me down this hallway, we can begin your training."

Weston shrugs, shakes his head wearily, and follows along. Honor trots alongside him.

If it wasn't for the fact it isn't that good of a joke I would make a joke that depends on innuendo based on female anatomy and cats.

"Ain't this wonderful... I've joined a shadow organisation that's above the governments of the world and freely operates outside the law to do what they want. Things are certainly getting interesting, that's for sure."

Fargrim shakes his head and follows the others.

"Still, you haven't answered my question: Since you are looking for the source of magic, have you considered that the source may infact be a god, or group of gods? And what do you do about things that aren't magical in nature but are just as weird?"

"If we can control the source, we will contain it until the world is ready for magic to be widespread. If we cannot, we will do what we can to make the world ready. As for weird, non-magical things, that's not exactly our area."

DM: Ok I lied, putting in this one update because I meant to have Slade respond earlier but forgot.

Fargrim looked silently at Slade for a long moment before speaking again.

"I think you will find that the weird and magical often go hand in hand. You may want to think your policy over if you want to continue..."

"I think you will find that the weird and magical often go hand in hand. You may want to think your policy over if you want to continue..."

"If our policy needs adjusting, then it will be adjusted. For the time being, it is fine."

Slade leads you through a heavy door into a room with thick foam walls and a single soldier inside, in front of a door on the opposite side of the room.

"Your goal is simple: exit the room. However, Victor here is going to try to stop you. Good luck."

Slade exits the room. Victor smiles at you.

"Well hello there. Let's begin."

Initiative:
Weston: 22
Victor: 21
Joe: 19, 18
Fargrim: 19, 14
Kyle: 18
Thymu: 8

Can I determine what all he has on him, or anything about his abilities? How does passive perception work?

Passive perception determines what you automatically see, without making a roll. He's got combat armor, a knife in a holster on his belt, and a rifle in his hands.

Speed of Thought: I move right infront of him, directly opposite the door.

"Boo."

((That's within 5 squares of movement and I'll be able to get an AOO on him if he decides to shoot us. It should also give him a bit of a jump to see someone move from one side of the room to the other before he can do anything. :P

I think we should use our positioning powers to force him out of the way and leave the room ASAP, cause I think this guy is an elite or solo character.))

((As a guideline, do you want me to go ranged, melee, or beast mode? I'm pretty equally skilled with each.

Weston arches an eyebrow.

"Er, am I allowed to use my powers? Some of them can be quite dangerous...is this room fireproof, by the way? Just curious."

((I have a power that can slide the guy if it hits. I can also try to trap him so he can't move without taking damage.))
