With the current clay system, do I need to do anything with earthenware (the ones made with normal clay) pots after drying & burning them in the Oven? I thought they should be good to go, but my dwarves refuse to use earthenware pots for food storage.

Earthenware requires glazing to store liquids, yes.

So I ran another world, small island.

I did manage to find a little malachite.

It does seems copper has been heavily reduced in this version.

Odd. I have no problem getting malachite with simple minerals on. my current fortress even has a big vein of the stuff right through the meeting area. I wonder what we do different.

Im just assuming thats how meph coded it. After lookind around for a spot i found one tile that had malachite and some other ore... That was it tho.  Two flippin ores. I guess meph wants to make it hard. so i brought a lil more casseterite and plan on using trade to get the rest

Yep, I ve see this a lot lately, the veins are reduced in the embarks, is not a real deal, because how easy and cheap is trading, then, exploiting the cursed caravans for free loot, goblinite from invaders etc.

I guess is because the new world generator in the GUI, this is not a bad feedback, but a balancing point.

I successfully traded for my first crate of bronze bars, I built the trade storehouse.  I see in red "Open Crate of Bronze Bars".

If I check my stockpiles screen, I indeed have a crate of bronze bars... how do I open this thing?

Never opened crates, but, I read time ago the Open option are automatic is the Tradestorehouse are close. I am wrong?

Close to what? A bars stockpile?
I have the storehouse 1 tile away from my depot (on the other side of a wall, but close access)

I did a "T" on the trade depot, and see the crate is still in there.  Maybe it just hasn't been gotten to yet.

Okay, I dumped it to a square, unforbid it, then the job kicked in at the storehouse.

MAN I LOVE ME SOME CRATES!

Brainy no worky - what's the difference between normal gems which come in either "rough cut" or "<shape> cut" and the ones that just show a name, like "fire opals" or "clear diamonds" ?

v.4b I have a few "strange" dwarves (painting pentagrams in combat logs and similar) and a temple of Armok. The manual says something that besides Armok's ward (I am 100 ores away from that) possessions can be cured by special praying while in line of sight. I can't figure out in game how to do that or find more information.
