I have a problem with my military dwarfs. They ignore all schedules. First they performed at least the training schedule with my 3 dwarf squad. Then i added 3 more dwarfs to the squad and the new ones won't start training and stayed civilian. I tried many different things like deleting squads, make new ones, delete barracks, new alerts/schedules and so on. But now every burrow or patrol i make is ignored by my military dwarfs, even the pre set training-schedule. They stay civilian and don't do anything until i send them directly with the move or kill command.
It's the second fort i have this problem. In the first they at least trained but ignored every other selfmade alert/schedule. The civlian alert is working, only the military is ignoring everything with alerts, schedules, burrows and patrols. I'm not a newbie to the military system.
May be it has something to do with a script?

This is a known bug in vanilla, I think.  I also had this happen.  I speculate it has to do with sparring.  Unskilled warriors won't spar until they've gained some combat experience through individual drills.  If you add unskilled dwarves to an existing skilled squad, it will screw up the whole squad.  I actually save scummed to get my elite militia back.

I would suggest creating a second squad if you want to add more dwarves after you've already got an established squad going.  I haven't tried this yet, though.

I thought so too first but they ignore every other schedule even a simple alert to stay in a burrow as squad. Some squad members go to the burrow as civilian and after a short time they got back to their civilian duty. After a while I manged the first squad with the new dwarfs to do training again but i really don't know why. I didn't do anything i haven't tried 10 times before. But that's all they do and every other squad or change of squad-members brings up the problem again.
I try a new fort on a new installation. I need my monthly changing military guard dutys.

Not a bug with the mod, but an issue with the GUI... my anti-virus (Trend Micro) goes nuts whenever I use the GUI for the first time, on a new version or new download.  I think it's complaining about how the GUI uses explorer to open folders or launch the game/utilities, or maybe how it maps the raws?  Not sure.  Anti-virus quarantines the game and a bunch of the init files and other exes and I have to restore and block them manually.

Probably not easy to test, but if there's another way to launch things/load files it might be better.  Other anti-virus programs might have the same issue.

guys, i just downloaded v4i and DF is hanging every time i "create new world (recommended)".
I have never had that happen.
Previously, I was playing v4g or v4h (I forget which) with no problems.

well, except that every time I walked away from my computer and it locked DF would crash on unlock (presumably due to rendermax)

/edit: it hangs when i "create new world (standard)", and "object testing arena" too.

What's the error message?
4i was giving me an AppHangB1 even with clean install after playing several games, turned out to be an unresolved conflict with an anti-virus program update.  It was necessary to restore Windows to a previous setpoint.  And turn off Rendermax to start; you can always turn it back on for screenshots.  If you list the error message, somebody might be able to help.

I'm having a similar problem. If I set the alert to train, the squad goes to the barracks and trains individually or spars as expected. Also, I can station them or give them kill orders with no problem. But, when I set an alert that has them scheduled to patrol a route or defend a burrow, they will not patrol the route or defend the borrow.

This is the same bug I was having trouble with, 4i seems to have reintroduced this bug http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=428 or something very similar, Though I believe it's one of the settings that is giving it issues as it seems to work fine for me on a fresh install of masterwork with no changes to settings.

Some bugs, I don't know if anyone reported them.

The reaction "Make ash(1) from plank" takes a wood log instead of a plank.

"Extract blood" takes a full stack of meat but return only a barrel of 5 blood.

"Extract blood" takes meat roast for meat.

"Transmute ironbone and blood to bloodsteel" can't use blood in bucket, which was milked from bloodling.

Dwarfs don't move blood in buckets to barrels.

the ash issue has been resolved (but not merged) and i've added an issue for the blood reactions here.

Extracting blood from a stack of meat is probably an unfixable (by modding, anyway) vanilla bug, being that it is essentially the same phenomenon as taking a stack of bones and making one item out of it. Not sure what can be done to fix that; presumably one could split up butcher results into many stacks with the same total number of meat, although I don't know how that would interact in terms of storage (e.g. whether, being that all meat is just "meat", it would stack together in a barrel).

I'm having a strange issue with FPS in the latest version.

I created a 2x2 embark. Usually, everything runs fine at 150 FPS. Sometimes, however, framerate randomly appears to drop to around 30 fps, stay there for a minute or two, then slowly creep back up. When this is happening, CPU usage is barley going above 2%!! Only 20 dwarves and 4 pets. I've been able to run 200+dwarf fortresses on the prior version of masterwork on a 2x2 embark without any trouble at all!

Any idea what could be causing this odd behavior?

*** Never Mind. It appears that a recent update to windows security essentials is causing this. Once I excluded the process from virus scanning, it seems to be much, much better!!

So, I checked the legends for my first DFMW world and I can only find books as artifacts.... Slabs and such that train some skills... I have not yet figured out how to make them myself, any idea? But still, no other artifacts...at all...I assume this is a bug?

I did not toggle any of the workshops or furnaces.
