Dwarf caught in cave-in near surface.. wtf cloud of magma?
« on: April 20, 2013, 09:01:09 pm »

"The Miner's upper body takes the full force of the impact, bruising the fat through the <giant cave spider silk cloak>!
The Miner is caught in a cloud of boiling magma!"

I haven't even found magma yet.  I'm *above ground*.  Where is a cloud of boiling magma coming from?

It's a known bug. My brother had this happen to him once.

I think this is just what the game calls vaporized rock, whether it's really boiling or just dust produced by a cave in.  It doesn't cause any particularly greater harm so far as I know, so don't be too alarmed.

I agree with Telgin. Might be from if you drop something into the magma or if there is a cave in on top of it. I am pretty sure there are some demons and creatures that shoot this also.

No magma need be present, dust from a cave in is all treated like this.

Dwarves are too embarrassed to admit they were knocked out by a dust cloud, so they tell everybody it was a cloud of boiling magma! And all of the other dwarves go along with this deception out of sympathy, and the knowledge that it could happen to them too.

Despite outward appearances, Dorf communities are very close knit when not being ruled by a mad overseer.

The military is all gathered in one huge mass on top of the ramp to the mountaintop, where the entrance is. Apparently they spend their time taking potshots at owls, pushing babies off the ledge, and giggling.

Sounds nasty. Is he ok now?
