Imperium Nova
« on: April 19, 2013, 02:33:43 pm »

Rather than resurrecting the old thread I figured I'd start a new one.

Anyone still playing this?  Recently joined back up again in Galaxy Draco as a race of horrible man-eating monsters running a slaving empire, figured I'd see if it was still fun.

Edit:  A few fun links to do with the game.

Ah, so that's why you're attacking the Emperor there.  Couping control from that Imperial Crony?

Keep an eye on

Local Forum - Galaxy Draco

Seems a bigger house noticed all the newer houses and is holding an event.

I am digging the RP nature of the game a bit, reminds me of dune.

The only thing is i see the house is doing a festival in galactic affairs, but i can not find information in help about the nature of it.
So i don't know if its something i accept, send some sort of envoy to, rp in the forums, or what.

Thoughts?

-Edit-

Found it. All help seems to say is that they get status for running it. So i assume anything else from it is gained through RP messages or forum posts.

Suppose my little house needs to do some social networking.

Tried this game, but it sadly wasn't quite my speed.
I was hoping for something more EOFS like.
That said, for anyone who would enjoy Battlemaster with a sci-fi taste, this is pretty cool.

There seems to be quite a focus on RP... how does this reflect in-game? Are there forums, PMs, and so forth? Does roleplay seriously influence in-game decisions, or is it just a tiny coating of gloss over gameplay? Can anyone give me a little rundown of what a regular "session" of this is like? Assuming one logs in once a day, not more.

Also, it seems like you're fairly limited until you subscribe, which sucks. Is this the case? As in, you can only open up more spheres (which appear to be areas of activity your house dabbles in) if you pay.

I'd appreciate any extra info on the game - can't really read the entire manual at the moment.

Also, if you are starting a new topic and intend for the new one to be abandoned, either link to the old one or create a good OP.

Well the spheres themselves seem to have quite a bit themselves to do in each. You do get another at 12 status, you can get more when you pay though only if your in-game account has enough status.

I will say that looking at the top 3 players in my galaxy, that the 3rd guy is unpaid and only has two spheres.

Role-playing seems to be a big corner stone of the game, the local forum for the galaxy is supposed to be considered all in your dynasties leaders character unless the thread has been marked ooc, and at least has been involved with most of the messages between me and other houses. I suppose it would tie in a bit between inter-house marriages and so-on, it depends on how much people want the role-playing to effect the game.

A game day is about 2 hours of real time i believe. It takes multiple days for structures to build, troops to train, operations to run, i think you could get by with checking in once a day. I was active my first day a bit, but a lot of that was getting acquainted with my neighbors, and setting myself up.

Started this too. House Kenkar in Eridian. The beginning seems really, really slow. I built a new facility last night about 7pm and it's still got 8 in game days left. Going to take a while to get to profitability.

At first the idea of having such limited features as a free player turned me off, but if you say it's still able to be fun, I'll take your word for it. Since I'd be locked in, I have some questions:

A) Can you change your homeworld? If so, do we have some sort of B12 area going on?
B) If we're working together, what spheres are other people taking and what do we need? Alternatively, if we're not, what is in demand and reasonably fun to play/profitable?

This is a game I've been sorely tempted to play for a while, mostly because it sounds similar to Dune, but worry I'd not have the time / be able to access often enough. I've ended up being a poor ally in other browser based games because of the long hours I work and I'd not want it to happen again. How often do you need to log in?
