((Sorry for the delay, guys)).

Get our equipment together, make sure we have a decent load of ammunition on us {stress this to our troops to check their ammo}, and just get ready for whatever the Vangaurd trow at us.

You check your ammo. You have plenty for your mass driver weapons. Your energy weapons do not have ammo, or in fact, do they need it. You order your troops to do the same.

You also tell your girls to check that any spare ammo is distributed amongst the combat capable troops, so that everyone has more than enough should the Vanguard decide to move in.

**

Get our equipment together, make sure we have a decent load of ammunition on us {stress this to our troops to check their ammo}, and just get ready for whatever the Vangaurd trow at us.

Also, double check and triple check all entrance are secure and have clear logistics in terms of delivery of ammo, and the proper schedule in place to make sure that our solders are properly rested and feed. I like to point out now we are in going into a siege which mean that anyone on the offense dictates the pace of this battle. However, we need less man power due us being on the defense.

Edit: Did we recall the shuttles from the secondary position?

You tell your sisters to check and double check, even triple check, all entrances and exits. You also take part, just to make sure everything is secure.

As far as you can tell, all possible ways of getting into the facility are secure and guarded. As you make your rounds, you make sure that your sisters are paying attention to their jobs.

You also, on the spur of the moment, make sure to pass on to Ari to take a portable copy of the facilities data stores so that if you need to buy out, the data banks can be wiped or destroyed and all valuable data can be returned to Morey hands.

**

hide a makeshift white flag, plan out a speech to confuse the foe in English, be ready for a fight, it will be a good day to die, but I hope the die don't screw us over like that

Out of sight of your sisters, you make a makeshift white flag using some blood splatters rags left over from under suits that needed to be stripped off to treat the wounds the Morey modified nanomachines couldn't deal with.

When trying to come up with a surrender speech, though, you just cannot think of anything that could possibly convince the Vanguard. You also do not think a speech is what would be needed. It might just get you shot quicker.

**

Make certain that everyone knows he retreat plan, and the alternate retreat plan, and the retreat plan if the shuttles are compromised, and the rendezvous point deep in the forest that anyone who is scattered or captured should try to check on on a weekly basis...

and thank Talli, and suggest that they should make similar records of their own systems...

Next, you make certain everyone knows the main retreat plan. As you managed to keep the shuttles in tact, the first plan will be to get to them and leave if everything starts to fall down.

You also remind them that, should the shuttles be destroyed, captured or otherwise incapacitated, the secondary escape plan is by using the designated paths through the minefields and traps outside the facility to fade into the jungle and commence an insurgency style war against Vanguard troops on the planet, trying to link up with any remaining Morey troops on the planet and, possibly, any friendly Slinkar (you add the bit about Slinkar after you realised how friendly Kaleetra is).

The rendezvous point, you tell them, will be the secondary position used during the fight for the facility.

You open contact with Talli, thanking it for its help. You tell Talli that you think it would be best if it could tell its brethren to make the same improvements and to merge with the minds of your brood sisters as well. Talli agrees and gets right on it.....

Suddenly, you hear weapons fire and what sounds like orbital strikes.

Using the battle-net you rapidly shout to your spotters on the facility walls.

'Scouts, REPORT!'

'They aren't attacking us, leader. The Vanguard have started attacking the Spaceport. I've never seen anything like it......From here, using our optics, we can see the Vanguard are sweeping any Slinkar resistance out of the way as if it is not even there.....'

This news sends chills down your spine. You know that the Slinkar most likely only have poor quality troops there, but there are far more of them than you have here in this facility. You hope your troops are good enough to hold off the Vanguard....

**

attempt to ask the Vanguard to parley. I hope Ala-Shar was right when she said the Vanguard seemed to want peace

With the new information in hand, you decide that the best thing you could do at the moment is try to parlay with the Vanguard commander.

Except, you dont know how to contact him or her.

Thinking, you realise that your only hope to contact the Vanguard commander is by broadcasting on a radio with a range just long enough to reach and acquire a stable connection with the Vanguard.

Then you remember your comms unit was destroyed, or at the very least, heavily damaged, when your helmet was hit.

You make your way to the infirmary in search of a comms units you can pick up and use. Luckily, you find one that was taken from the body of one of your dead sisters. Putting it on, you make your way to the main control room, where Ari and the other brood leaders are monitoring the Vanguard attack on the Spaceport.

You tell them what you are about to do.

"What?! Are you insane?" Elianna says, aghast. "They killed half of my brood, and you promised you would help me get revenge. Were your words just lies?"

"No, they weren't. But we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If the Vanguard attack and we do not surrender, we will most likely be wiped out. Our deaths will be in vain and nothing will change. We have a chance to do something good here. Ala-Shar told me that the Vanguard are, and have been for quite a while, looking for peace. If we can negotiate here, it proves to the Presidentess and the Senatorium the Vanguard are the bogey men they fear and despise.

The Matriarch, Old Guard generals, the Scientists and even the new guard generals will see the reality of things and will have the evidence they need to bring the Senatorium to heel before things get messy.

If we dont try, many will die for no reason"

Elianna, Ankara and Ari are quiet for a while.

"You're right" Ankara and Ari say, almost at the same time.

"We need to at least try." Ari continues.

"Elianna, we know you hurt, and I promise you, we will try and get retribution, but at the moment if we do not tr to negotiate with the Vanguard, our only outlook is death." Ankara says, sounding bitter about having to accept the decision.

"We're agreed then." You say. Everyone nods.

You start the transmission. In English. You get surprised looks from your fellow Brood Leaders, and the brood sisters in the room.

"This is Brood Leader Pandora of the Morey Matriarchy. Are you there, Vanguard Commander?"

No response.

"I say again, this is Brood Leader Pandora of the Morey Matriarchy. Are you there, Vanguard Commander?"

Again, no response.

"I know you are out there. Would you be so kind as to answer me?"

"So you are the Morey commander who has so meticulously fortified that Morey HQ?" Comes a deep, gruff voice over the radio. You can definitely imagine the voice belonging to a large, thick-set veteran. "This is Brigadier Xander Berginstaff. To what may i owe the honour of speaking with you?"

"I would like to negotiate. I want ot come to a mutually beneficial agreement between our two sides......" You say.....

Well, withdrawal is not really an option and we have no prisoners to give up that they would be interested in.
Can we offer than data from the HQ's databanks? Or would that piss off the Morey brass?

The Prisoner? or

"We see what your doing with the Slinkarr and our prisoner tells us that she's baffled as to why your fighting here?"

If nothing works spook him a bit.

"Okay but one more thing i'd like to sing you a lullaby like i told my kids before i was abducted:

Twinkle Twinkle little star how i wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a Diamond in the sky

How i wonder if heaven be true
Next time won't you sing to me?
*small laugh* "

I doubt that a lullaby would freak out a battle hardened super soldier.

flatter him, he sounds pompous enough. Say that we are not diplomats, but that we will connect him to our diplomats if he lets us open communications (ask alashar who to contact and tell herthe news). We both want something, you do not want more war than necessary, and we really would prefer not to be massacred by your legendarily strong armies. Ask them to take pity on us unfortunate once-human slaves formed by the more Jerkass government elements, who of course we will not connect them to, instead we will take them to the more logical elements (alashar's recommendations, stress one wrong move will get us killed.

-1 he's a soldier with possible orders and i doubt the brass is going to be given diplomatic powers to negotiate for us. All we can do is get a bit of info, look scary, break assualts, and make it meaningless to continue to attack us due to large losses for nothing. I have a feeling they didn't come to finsih a war...but something else.

Our best diplomat is the Presidentee's herself and her fleet from what we know is not here.

BTW since we have a shuttle i want to give an order to our troops to prepare to get our prisoner ready to be transported ASAP if things get bad quick.

basically: "The Vanguard are overpowering us, luckily the prisoner {and what's left of your brood} make it into the shutte that wasn't harmed during the battle and is now flying off." Just as a precaution of course.

Well, our primary objective here is to stall them. While they think that some sort of surrender can be negotiated, it is worth delaying a full-scale assault. Tell them that we want to hold our position, avoid further hostilities, offer refuge and medical services to our allies and anyone who surrenders to us, and to maintain a permanent diplomatic station should we lose control of the system. Ask them what they want and proceed to haggle...

Look up the rank 'Brigadier'. That should clear some misunderstandings up.))

first ask him what he wants, at the moment the only thing we think he might want is to kill us, and that would be unacceptable by our standards
