How do you feel about the movie The Machinist?
Never seen it, but making things has always been a passion for me.

Wait, machinists make things? I thought they drove trains...

I must have translated it wrong at some point.

Worked in a Machine shop run by a South African guy for a few weeks during my degree, was a very interesting place to work. The amount of logical problem solving and creativity that is involved is very high.

To the OP, what is your country of work?

The kicker is we have all of four people in the actual building, so I never even see most of my "fellow employees".

On the other hand, they're paying me more money than either of my parents have ever made to solve puzzles, talk shit, and play Minesweeper.

Congratulations. All you need is a white fence and a nagging wife and you'll have "made it."

Subway Sandwich Artist.

I don't have much creative freedom in my job, despite "artist" being in the job title.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Man they seem to love giving out those kinds of titles don't they? Like how the bank kiosk in the Giant Eagle a few miles away is manned by "retail banking specialists"...

North America, glad to know theres a engineer out there besides me, lots of programmers
though!  And yes most jobs involve alot of creativity, taking a print to somthing physical takes some serious critical thinking. Theres so many things that can go wrong on so many levels and all it takes is one little mistake and everything hours to candyland haha. Its the challenge that I love, I think programmers understand that.

I'm the sole postman in a group of villages up on the nearby mountain. The territory is pretty big, but it's mostly forest and there's only 300 permanent residents. And 95% of the roads I drive on are unpaved. Man, I feel like Kevin Costner :D

Man, some of you guys have some crazy jawbs! I'm just a student, which in Denmark nets me 2800-ish DKK a month. I still live with my parents though, so it adds up pretty quickly. c:
THAT SAID THOUGH, our dear Lord Dullard once paid me really handsomely for some pixely arty stuff, the memory of which i will always cherish. I'm hoping to be able to pursue this source of revenue further, but as of right now i'm still not sure if i'm good enough at any kind of art to take money for it. I suppose that's up to the potential clients, though. :P

also i'm majoring in geology so that might become an actual occupation in the future
