Big difference there.  Toxin is still a different element than Poison.  In DS1, toxin was a LOT more brutal, and you could actually have both at once.  In DS2, both have been buffed somewhat.  Poison Mist is decent.  Toxic Mist can be a massive damage infliction.

When I tested them toxin seemed basically the same as poison except with a faster damage rate. Both took the same level of exposure to take effect. Given the length of time the poison lasts, it seems like they would both still end up being deadly to most enemies.
Of course I only tested it on the zombie guineapigs in Majula, so maybe other enemies have higher poison resistance than toxic resistance.

Anyway, I still found poison mist to be useful before I got toxic mist. I'd imagine both of them together would be pretty brutal. If that's still possible, that is.

Toxin is reported to cause damage twice as fast, so it's considerably more dangerous.

Toxin and Poison should still be separate resistances, so it should be possible to stack both on one target.

Huh, just encountered a bug. With the butterfly armour you can jump into the well in Majula. Going in the well doesn't kill you but there's nothing in it except blackness which covers you up to your shoulders. The only way out is to use a homeward bone or the darksign.

yea that...thats a super bug right there. not the surviving the fall, the whole unaccessable area. unless you borked the fall damage somehow and glitched your way down there by staggering coincidence and the game is confused

Aside from that, being rational is not only optional, but is frowned upon.  We hate elves.  We kill for socks.  We sacrifice nobles.  We love kobolds.

I FINALLY decided to make a sorcerer/hexer/pyromancer.
And it actually went pretty well.
I managed to get all the way to No Man's Wharf without dying.
But as it stands, wow, this place seems way more difficult as a mage.
Any little things I should do to make this easier, or am I in for a rough ride?

In my limited experience, I found leveling strength and dexterity just enough to use the handaxe to be immensely useful. When you've got to melee, it's much more reliable than the dagger.

As a sorcerer you really should be pushing out the 9 strength and 10 dex to use the flame short-sword from the Forest of the Last Giant, int scaling ftw. As for No Man's Wharf? The only piece of advice I can think of is don't use hexes if you have any, everything in there is super resistant to dark.

Hm, Ill go kill the Pursuer and get the stats for the fire sword then, forgot about the int/faith scaling fire got now.
I figured out on my own that Hexes were useless, :P
Thanks for the advice, folks.

Huh.

According to some basic maths, Dark Souls 2 will in fact be coming out this evening, GMT, and not on the 25th.

I am 100% okay with this.

According to the Steam page, it will be unlocked in "approximately 17 hours".

Approximately seventeen hours from ~6am, i.e when I checked, is 23:00 GMT.

That or Steam decided that "now"should be "about 45 minutes from now"

Basically, Steam's "this game will be unlocked in <x>" is dumb as bricks and very confusing. It's entirely possible that the game will be released on the 24th, in GMT.

E: Well, okay, BASIC MATHS™ says that it will in fact be midnight GMT. So that's the time it'll be released.

Late evening, in 'murrican timezones. 4 to 8pm, I think.

The game unlocked early in Japan and VPNs exist.  What you do with this information is up to you.
