Some suggestions/thoughts (With going to prison)
« on: April 10, 2013, 09:34:29 pm »

Okay, I just got arrested for the first time (Pretty early on.. Selling brownies after I killed a couple of automatons in a little raid) and I got like, six years (Not sure how with the murders, but whatever lol).. I pleaded guilty because one of my dudes was a witness and I had no viable defense.

And I noticed as the time passed, little random events appeared.. Like back breaking work, fighting.. Things like that.. I thought they would affect my character (Like maybe, giving her some skills or something related to prison suvival) but from what I can tell, she has the exact same stats that she had 6 years ago.. So, my suggestion is simple..

If it doesn't already do it, prison should have some kind of obvious affect on your character, training relevant skills or something.. I'd suggest it change your stats or something but it would be odd if prison is the only thing other than juice that affects your stats.

Thoughts?

Well, then we can add the probability of being murdered in prison but that would suck if you only have jailed liberals as your last hope

I think that may already be a feature, as I just got arrested again and I apparently died.. I dunno how, it just said I died in the score.. I was holding enter to skip all of the messages and I just skipped right through my death, so dying in prison is at least already a thing.

It already does. The "back-breaking labor" happens when the Police Regulation laws, as well as Death Penalty laws, are Arch-Conservative. Then the Prison turns into a Labor Camp.

Looks like all Forced Labor does is reducing Juice.

And, in case of base (non-Juice increased) Health <= 1 (as opposed to == 0 otherwise), the prisoner may die. But there is no decrement or anything at all.

Which I find odd, I would think prison would affect your stats.. If anything it should make you a more effective fighter/survivor as you have to deal with all of this crap, kind of like how people go to prison IRL as normalish people, and come back out total hard asses.

That would make prison more of a reward than anything.

Considering that it would reqire the Liberal to be in prison and therefore unable to take any action for however many months/years would be necessary to see significant gains, I would disagree.

In addition to the above, it's not all gains. There should be some loses, and depending on other prisoners (read:random events) they may end up conversing with accidentally imprisoned Automatons who might have the potential to raise their wisdom and damage heart or check against their argumentative skills. Of course, it could backfire-if the liberal pulls through (a difficult task) they may come out all the better for it. . . or they might collapse under pressure, being freed only to have little more than 15 wisdom and 1 heart.

Simply put, you'd be rolling the dice every time someone went to prison for any significant amount of time - AND the effects would also depend on laws as well.

Wouldn't there be more liberals in jail in LCS?

Heh, that's where the italics come in. C'mon.

Plus, CCS members may be captured during rampages, so that's at least one source. Plus gang members, I suppose.

May be fights can be a chance to gain fighting skills but a the risk of suffering a nasty wound or too.
Prison riots are basic liberal disobedience so are worth juice, maybe have a check to see what the liberals do during the riot .

Giving the player back control of some liberals and giveing them the chace to do thing like:trying to free other liberals from different levels, escape ,fight conservative prisoners, burn stuff and take prisoners.

Youd make the papers, LCS members in prison riot, engaged in X,Y,Z befor being subdued/ escaping.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Holy shit, I like all of these ideas.

I really think the prison would add more definition to the game and make it a bit more fleshed out, I mean.. Exactly the same when you come out of prison? Come on,  even aging and doing nothing teaches you shit.. But they are put under an insane amount of pressure, stress and the whole.. NEED TO SURVIVE; Prison should have more impact on your character.

Like the idea of riots, and I also like the idea of shit happening to you.. Also, wouldn't you be trying to recruit people while you were in there? Think about it, if your LEADER gets arrested.. Wouldn't he logically be trying to push the LCS, even while behind bars?

Think about how much power some criminals have IRL even behind bars.

Do riots or escapes ever work?  For me they haven't, also sometimes depending on the law changed your liberal would usually get executed years in prison

Wow, good point. I had forgotten totally about that. Hm, now I'm trying to remember some of the really big ones as well.

Well, in Infinite Space (DS) The kreios pirates became MORE powerful once their leader, Kreios, was sent behind bars to an maximum security prison with an automated defense system.
