You arrive in the Great Chamber of the Temple early in the morning to begin the day's prayers. What you find, though, sends chills down your spine.

Floating in the air and surrounded by a white light is the High Priest, his arms outstretched and his face pointing towards the sky. Around him are three rings of candles, each containing 13 candles. Before those is a ring of 13 disks. Engraved upon each disk is a name, one for each of you.

The first ring of candles are White, and all are lit.

The second ring of candles are Green, and some are lit.

The third ring of candles are Teal, and only a few are lit.

The High Priest’s head lowers to face you. His eyes glow with brilliant power, an everchanging light that flickers and shifts with every breath.

“The gods have seen fit to test us. There are amongst us Traitors. Heathen Spies of Morasadis who worship their gods of Light and Darkness. You must find them, and break their power.”

He pauses, as the disks glow for a moment, and then fade.

“Each of you has a disk to stand upon when you vote, and three candles that will affect only you.”

“You must vote to light or extinguish candles. You each get 2 votes per day.”

“Solve the riddle of the Candles. Find the Spies.”

“Only then can I be free.”

The Candles stand thus:
Captain Ford: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is lit, Teal Candle is out
Dariush: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is lit, Teal Candle is out
Nerjin: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is lit, Teal Candle is out
notquitethere: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is out, Teal Candle is out
Okami No Rei: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is lit, Teal Candle is lit
Onyxjew944: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is lit, Teal Candle is out
Ottofar: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is out, Teal Candle is lit
RangerCado: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is lit, Teal Candle is out
Remuthra: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is out, Teal Candle is out
Solifuge: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is out, Teal Candle is out
Tiruin: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is lit, Teal Candle is out
Toaster: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is lit, Teal Candle is out
Vector: White Candle is lit, Green Candle is out, Teal Candle is lit

Game has started! Day 1 will go until ~5pm Pacific Thursday.

Guesses: White candle is life.

Green and Teal. . . I don't know.  I feel unusually close to the gods right now, apparently.  Is this a piece of information everyone god?

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I see what you did there.

I'm not sure how much flavor counts in these Bastard mods.

I serve all the gods, but I started my priesthood with a particular god I feel closest with. And I have a feeling that flavor is going to be a large part of what we have to go on, so what god that is is probably important. Anyone else have a similar story?

White as life makes sense, since we all have those. Given that, shall we start with the other ones? I suspect Teal Candles being lit might be tied to an informed minority/scum thing... but that -is- a bit obvious. Mostly it's based on the proportion of Lit Teal Candles among the players.

Solifuge: But we also have green candles not lit, and NQT and Remuthra only have a white.

Hmmm... I agree with Vector. White probably means life. Green and Teal... now my original theory is out. They aren't tiers of power or placement. Vector possesses teal, but not green. I possess green, but not teal. So they are not mutually dependent. I'm almost leaning toward meaningless. I don't know the Moderator very well, but I do know the glorious feeling of deploying a skillful red herring. I won't be putting too much significance on them for now. Maybe when more data and speculation is given.

Better Organized Data:
  • Eight out of Thirteen Green are lit. Majority have whatever effect that grants.
  • Three out of Thirteen Teal are lit.
  • I assuming White means life. I can easily confirm or deny that at the end of the Night. Reasons obvious.
  • Not going to focus on candles until greater data is revealed.

Greetings, all. I would give some pointless speech or establish an RP character for this, the setting is definitely interesting enough, but questions are infinitely more productive.

Tiruin What do you think of this mechanic? Any suspicions, on scum or just candle thoughts, you feel like sharing?

Ford We meet again. Do you think this 'High Priest' will affect anything, or is just a bit of decoration?

Dariush Do you think we should place more emphasis on discovering the traitors first, or on unraveling the effects of these mysterious candles?

Okami Your teal candle is lit, do you have any ideas on what that might mean?

It appears I am out of material. I will return shortly, I have some school-related issues to contend with.

Me, too.  I'm not giving mine out because I suspect it might be a PR-related thing.

However, I can confirm that the teal candle != scum.

Maybe we're supposed to use the candles to show what we know about the game?  So we write down alignments and stuff, or something like that?

Here's my theory: the teal and blue candles convey certain abilities. Considering the colors, I'm guessing a lit teal candle allows you to use a doctor's ability (green=life) and a blue one allows you to use a cop's ability (blue=police).

"By the Just hand of Telmorin, may we blunt the shards of dissent that threaten our noble order!"[/i]

Like all of us good priests, I worship all the gods-- but I have always been closest to Telmorin. The white candle might indicate my allegiance thus. Perhaps, and this is just speculation, Teal represents the lesser gods of the pantheon if Sister Vector feels close to all the gods.

Except that all the white candles are lit. I reccomend my chart.

As do I, brother, as do I.

There are no blue candles. The colors available are white, green, and teal.
