In my experience, creatures in DF with a "trunk" always have a facial appendage as a body part, as opposed to being very long or serpentine.

These descriptions are often open to interpretation. Like how "monitor" actually refers to the monitor lizard, but is drawn as a computer monitor. If I could art I would draw it as a feathered alligator with a trunk (as in, the big sturdy box) filled with magical fire.

I broke out the 4-pen for some colour magic. The writing and numbers coming through from the back of the page add unexpected texturing.



Photobucket is unresponsive for me today so I tried tinypic which turns out to be pretty cool. For some reason I had the impression that it was going to shrink the image but this is 1:1 from the page I scanned.

All in all, very good entries; the one that I was struck by most was DG's. I though it best interpreted both the appearance and the story of the beast (it didn't include the fire, however, but that is understandable given that the beast is dead). So, congratulations DG! You are the winner.
