No prob on the edit, was teasing a little on the way the sentence was written.

Pretty much all of the dual citizenship MPs have duals from someplace that was once part of the British Empire, including the one with a parent or grandparent from Singapore. Although the Singapore one might be a bit complicated because they joined Malaysia and then got booted out.

I can confirm that 95% of New England is white Anglo-Saxons.  :P

Barnaby, if you watch him, is more in line with the moderate conservatives than the Bernardi/Abbott types.
The perception is that he's a solid bloke. Plus, the amount of crap he cops from the media does him more good than harm at this point. You get people like this who only lose votes for their side.

I just see this as another example of the near unlivable conditions of the continent. Not just the nature but also it's juria is hostile to australians!

This was actually a bit upsetting to me, seeing people on reddit call 70% of the people I know (and tend to like) "fucking morons" was a little irritating.

Don't let it bother you. Reddit over-represents that certain minority that thinks we're mouth breathers. From my experience those people are few and far between. Studying and working in Wollongong for the last couple years I've encountered, like, 1. And he was a poet-comedian running away from Dubbo, so he needs some slack. :P
Contemptuous people on the internet aren't worth your energy. There are genuine criticisms, but they aren't making them.

edit: Remiss if I didn't link Skyscraper Stan's song on small town lethargy. Criminally slept on muso.

I heard the other day that my area contained the lowest percentage of votes for Joyce.

So it looks more and more certain that the Greens are going to get their first Queensland State parliamentarian: http://www.abc.net.au/news/qld-election-2017/guide/maiw/

The same-sex marriage bill passed! Now we just have to wait for the Governor-General to sign off and it will be legal!

Don't forget that once it's passed both houses, it's incredibly unlikely the G-G won't sign off on it. That'd probably trigger a constitutional crisis, so the law is as good as passed.

Iirc they messed up the legalese and almost made hetero marriage illegal. Or something, that must've been a couple of years ago it happened. I remember finding it humorous at the time.

Yes, they accidentally made hetero marriage illegal.

On accident...
