You formulate a few ideas in your head, and decide that you need more information before you settle. You ask for Albert again, and question him about probing the planets and moons.
" Hmm. I could throw together a few probes in the assembly. However, 4 would take until next month to build, and would require some sort of orbital vehicle to pick up."
You also ask about prefab structures.
" Ah yes, prefabs. 250 man buildings would be simple, only requiring about 100 concrete and you could make 5 a month. Solar Power generators would be enough for 10 of these, and would again only take a month, and 100 copper. There is the probability of turrets as well. Manned and manned by a simple AI. Armaments could range from machine guns to cannons and rail guns. Any other structures could be made if you asked."
He writes up a list, and places it on a table.
" Goodbye."
You order him to construct one probe, and manufacture two prefabs. The rest of the month passes by uneventfully.
17th SEPTEMBER 2027, MONDAY.
Pretty busy today. Bridget wants you in the lab and Albert wants you as well. May as well head to Bridget first.
" Hello Sir. We are now going to demonstrate our reflective armour system."
A scientist comes past with a big bulky scientific laser, and points it at a sheet of strange looking metal. He fires it and the beam bounces off considerably weaker.
" Our armour is about as good as it can get. It should give the aliens a run for their money. In addition we analysed the probe results from the Earthlike. It appears that an Industrial civilisation exists on one continent, with a few scattered cities. The other continent is jungle, plains, and mountains. Large deposits of copper, iron, and coal. The plains have some tungsten and iron."
You ponder, and then decide to head to Albert.
" Hello once again. We have the prefabs operational, and ready to drop onto where you need em' immediately."
Alan also catches up to you, and says that his training program was a complete failure. No new skilled people have been developed.
You nod and walk back to the bridge, and mull over what has developed. What do you do now?
Status:
Level 0: Bridge
The command and control hub of the Liberty. Should it be destroyed or damaged, sensors, comms, and other features will be disabled, and you potentially killed.
Level 1: Colonist Quarters
Containing Room for 20,000 people in relative comfort, this is the heart of your ship. Should it be destroyed, it will be chaos.
Level 2: Hydroponics
Containing all necessary food producing plots, this grows the vegetables and fruit that keeps the ship working.
Level 3: Military Depot
This houses the soldiers and equipment necessary to defend. Loss of this will be near fatal.
Level 4: Factory
Furniture, ammunition, tanks, prefab buildings, this top of the line nano-assembler can build anything given the raw materials.
Level 5: Cargo
Containing all the necessary equipment for a colony.
Level 6: Engineering
Containing all the reactors, engines, and the all important FTL drive, loss of this immobilises you.
People: 17,000 civilians located at Level 1.
Military: 500 Soldiers, 10 APC's and 300 MP's.
Cargo:
5 All Purpose Construction Vehicles
Around 750 units of steel
200 of tungsten
450 of copper
800 of concrete
200 of gold
800 of plastic
Known Schematics:
Probe: 50 ST 50 COP
Prefab: 100 CONC
Solar Plant: 100 COP
Machine Gun Bunker: 50 CONC, 50 STE (Auto: +50 COP)
HE Cannon Bunker: 50 CONC, 100 STE ( Auto: +50 COP)
Rail gun Bunker: 20 TUNG, 50 CONC, 120 STE, 20 GOL (Auto: +50 COP)
Personnel:
Science Wing Breakdown
" The science wing is severely understaffed. 2 Scientists skilled in FTL physics are here, 3 in physics, and a single one has knowledge of chemistry. They all have access to the Nano Assembler though, and could research and cook up a few things for you with it."
Currently working on: Nothing
Engineering Breakdown
" Quite probably the only fully manned post. Over 300 Engineers are here, all very skilled. We have no problems in this sector at all."
Military Breakdown
" The soldiers are scared to death. All aren't even soldiers, only national guardsmen collected from a nearby depot. The MP's are faring better, as they are effectively our civilian police as well. Equipment is good, few vehicles though."
Civilian Breakdown
" Mostly people here are from factory, retail, or service jobs with few skills. We do have a few students of science and engineering though, and a few builders"
