Personal Log: January 1st, 2040They came out of no where. We thought they were dead. We were wrong. New Years Eve. So many dead.....the SS Titanic, gone. A wreck at the bottom....
Ahem. Captain's Log, January 1st, 2040. I have recently been assigned command to the Silver Frost X-Com Underwater Base. My purpose, to investigate the new alien threat, and if the occasion presents itself, eliminate it. I have a very small crew of 28, and while I have faith in their abilities, we can always use more hands down here. I have gone ahead and approved the order of 20 more scientists and two more aquanauts.
I have also approved the purchased of a standard combat Coelacanth, along with a variety of other gear we may possibly need. I sold anything that wasn't of any real value to the operation.
After I made these purchases, I took a stroll around the base. I immediately recognized that the base's infrastructure wasn't up to the task, and ordered construction of wide sonars, storage, and alien containment.
To my relief, the combat subs were properly equipped. Each had the standard Ajax Torpedo Launcher and Gas Cannon load out.
Finishing my stroll, I returned to my desk, piled with paperwork. I looked it over. The scientists needed approval for one of their projects. I approved their gauss technology proposal.
That done, I finally got to the aquanaut roster. I designated new roles to many of them, reflecting their skills and strengths.
End of Captain's Log-------------------------------
Out of CharacterI'm a little unsure what format I'll do for this LP. While I do think the RP style makes it a lot more interesting to read, it definitely increases the amount of work per update. Thoughts?
Anyway, here's my tactics so far. I chose this base location since its sonar covers both the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Not to mention that my subs can reach many other regions nearby.
I decided to go with the default sub loud out since it seems to work the best. It has a fairly decent chance to disable an enemy sub before it escapes, and it costs less money to replace the ammo.
Research wise, I elected to get Gauss technology first. Medikits are useless without armor (everyone dies in one hit), and the motion scanner isn't very useful outside of terror missions.
Finally, the Aquanaut classes. I use these names to define their roles. Snipers have high firing accuracy, and I want to make sure they stay in the back so I can keep them alive. Scouts have high throwing accuracy, and generally high strength if I can help it. They wield a pistol and some grenades (and later on the motion sensor). Alpha Heavy wields the torpedo launcher, and I emphasize high strength with high firing accuracy. Beta Heavy wields the heavy cannon, who also has the same emphasis. For claiming purposes, you can claim a class (I'll just tack something at the end of your name that indicates your class), or you can ask for general stats.
