Ok, I'll only say this once. WHY ARE YOU SO OOC. THE PRINCE WE ARE PLAYING AS CARES DEEPLY ABOUT HIS SISTER. HE WOULD NOT DISREGARD HER EMOTIONS. STOP BEING META.
...
...
*ahem*
Sorry about that. I just... don't like the direction your taking here and how it conflicts with what has been stated earlier. Very sorry about the outburst. Just... don't meta. Please?

We kinda are the prince, so if we care, then the prince cares. If we think long-term, then so does the prince. The considerations being typed here are the same that would be in his head.

What I can tell you is, his sister had several opportunities to answer the lord's questions in ways that would disqualify her. She didn't. That give you her own inclination already.

Not really. She may have been too nervous to think up lies, and just gave the truth. Just ask her! It really isn't that hard. Just bend down next to her and let her whisper what she wants.

DId you not see what I just said? We care about our sister. But we can't help her if we're a nobody or in prison cause our father is pissed. We aren't authorized to say no. I'm not "meta-ing", these are all thoughts going through our in game head. I'm sure there have been lots of decisions rulers don't WANT to make but have to do for the greater good. Did Harry Truman WANT to drop the bomb? No, but he acted for the greatest good. So let's sim this out a little. We say no, prince is offended, we go back to father, he throws us in jail, and sends somebody else to escort her to the prince to be married. We say yes, we get the respect of all parties involved.

You want to talk about Meta? You're applying 1960's women's rights ideas to a 1260 world.

Not even close. We have had no indication of how women are treated in this society except our sister being married off to some prince. Anyway, you can't say that this is an 1260 world, we have no idea of the sociopolitical development of this world or the customs of the people. Women might have the veto on stuff like this in this world, we don't know. Just ask the girl. It really isn't so hard.

Here's the question I'm going to raise. If we do leave the decision up to Ritalia, (regardless of whether we have her whisper it to us, or say it herself), and she says no... would you guys be prepared to take the fall for it? As we're acting in our father's stead here, the final decision is up to us, and with great responsibility comes great opportunity for blame. If the answer is no, then you should accept the marriage outright. However, if the answer is yes, then it makes perfect sense to leave the decision up to her.

That said, I don't consider the above happening all that likely, as she knows what's at stake here, and if she were dead set against it, she could have answered questions in such a way as to fail the sitting.

I would like to say that even going against the princes core personality traits wouldn't be meta-gaming necessarily, the prince is your character and so he can change based on the actions you make him do. He may not change right away, but he can change, his core personality traits are mostly to help color the posts when i need to draw on more than the provided suggestions.
Even his current personality traits are based on earlier player decisions.

Protip: Grandiloquence avails you nothing, and if we desire to travel in this direction, I have equal competency at being pretentiously verbose.

I'm not even going to argue with you, there is no convincing you. Let the players read both of what we have said and decide. (By the way, we do know the sociopolitical development; it's medieval times)

I like how you didn't contend that you were applying 1960's women's rights' values, btw.

If you think she'll say yes and want her to say yes, then minimize the risk. We again don't want this guy to think we take orders from our sister. Should we have to take the throne by force or need some international legitimacy, this guy may come in handy.

I possess an inclination towards informing you, my compatriots, that I have no deficiency in the art/science of sesquidepellan loquaciousness myself.

Anyways, I'm fine with anything from "Yes" to "I have no objections," with the footnote that the latter option would allow Ritalia the option of rejection.

These type of threads really get painful to read through after awhile, with all the shitty bickering. So perhaps you guys could stop that~

I'd say allow it. As has been said, Ritalia had many chances to just outright lie in a answer and put the prince off of her. It wouldn't be considered correct to turn to them and ask for their opinion at such a sensitive point in the dealings. The very fact that courting is done in such a fashion is more than enough of a indicator of the current social development in the game.

Second time someone's said this, one problem, she could be lying to GET him to want her, because that's what her father wants, and is what supposedly is good for the kingdom.

Raynor Casar, Royal Prince of Analysse, popular claimant on the future crown.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"Unless my sister has some sort of hidden dire repugnance of the idea of this marriage i see no reason to deny your request. On behalf of my father, head of the family and King of Analysse i give my blessing. We can come to an arrangement for dates and plans later, though we will have to take Ritalia back home to prepare her for the wedding, i hope you understand it is our custom for an Analyssian daughter to be wed with her father as the host."
Penrod smiles at this, seeming to stand up a little straighter. "Good, i can not tell you how much this means for me and my people." At his own words he seems to stiffen, and turns to Ritalia, "I will try to be a good husband." He then promptly leaves, giving you and Ritalia a few moments of privacy.
She seems contemplative, but not necessarily of darkened spirits. It's hard to say exactly what she's thinking, but she doesn't seem very talkative, so you assume she needs her space and allow her to do so in peace.

Leaving the chamber, you've the day ahead of you. In fact you might have a week, or a month, however long you wish to stay or go you are sure. You feel like you are truly in charge of your party, even though Sir Evanson was supposed to take charge it is only in name. Several times you have wrested control of events from him, and he doesn't even seem to resent you for it, on top of that, for a brief moment you acted as the head of your entire household! As the leader of your group in all but name, what will you do next?
