Raynor Casar, Royal Prince of Analysse, popular claimant on the future crown.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You take a closer look at the man laying on the ground before you. He has no dignity that you can make out, he's dirty, smells, and his smashed nose and writhing in panic only serve to make him seem more pathetic and lowly. "I have some questions to ask of the easterner, can you make sure he answers them?"
Barick hauls the spy to his knees and removes the gag. "He will answer every question." The man barely has a chance to gasp a few free breaths from his mouth before Barick grabs the hair at the back of the mans head, and yanks his head roughly to face towards you, all the while speaking more giberish to the man.

...

The interrogation goes predictably, you learn that he and two others just happened to wander near your party as you neared the hamlet, and that you have been under-watch ever since. His tribe fled west some months ago and are unfamiliar enough with the land that they have not been able to subsist on hunting, so they decided to take food from the local peasantry. Their leader is known as a skilled warrior among their people.
Barick tells you that this is not unusual for the wildmen, the eastern wildlands are a harsh place to live, and many find it easier to take what they can from others to survive. Barick seems to have a lot of contempt for these people, and almost seems happy to bruise and cut the man perhaps a little more than is neccecary, when you find your heart weaken for him you recall firmly the death of your squire not hours ago.

Barick seems to get a little confused when the man tries to explain why his tribe fled their ancestral lands. "He is describing some king of creature i've never heard of before, using a lot of words i don't understand. From what i can make of it they left for fear of some creature that burrows through the ground and arrives in large numbers, and is immune to their arrows. I have never heard of such a creature, and the way he describes them makes them seem more like an army than a herd of wild creatures."
It's hard to tell whether or not  he's being factual or superstitious, and he has no more new information for you. Barick has him hog tied and gagged again, and suggests that the wildman should be executed, lest he continue his culture of rape and murder.

Sir Evanson believes that the party should head to the next town in the morning, with your mercenary company lagging behind to find and kill any pursuers. Do you agree?

They have killed the Prince's squire and this is no longer a regional matter, but one touching our own dignity. It appears they depend largely on bows, and an attack during the night can negate that strength. They are no match for Evanson's footmen.

Execute the barbarian, personally.  Time to bloody our hands.  Then +1 to the attack at night suggestion.

+1. A prince must harden himself.

Personally, if we can do so fairly quickly. No need to embarrass ourself for our dignity or whatever.

We are like 13 years old, we should just let Barick deal with him.

-1 to killing him personally, and I'm neutral on the idea of killing him at all... although I could be tempted to hand him over to the locals and let them execute their own justice on them.

Raynor Casar, Royal Prince of Analysse, popular claimant on the future crown.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You tell Barick what you intend to do, and your bodygaurd hauls the prisoner to you. Needing to steel your nerves, you give a short speech to the men on justice, with a firm proclamation that you will not allow your subjects to be harmed without consequences. The men nod and mutter grimly at your words, and many hands tighten on swords, Evanson clasps your shoulder firmly, and you draw your dagger, preparing yourself for the grim business.

Barick holds the man firm, and even in his death panic the wildling can barely move. Your hands shake, and you move to bring the dagger across the throat of your prisoner, but you slip and slash his throat improperly. You feel bile raise in your throat as the man gurgles in agony, and his thrashing means your second cut nearly misses the mark as well. The man dies shortly after, and you excuse yourself to throw up in the woods. You dimly remember Barick cleaning blood from your face, and telling you that you did well.

When you return, the men seem concerned for you, but you barely register them. You tell Evanson to plan for an attack in the morning, and spend the night with your thoughts before drifting into a fitful sleep.

...

You awake in poor spirits, and Barick makes you drink a foul brew of tea you've never heard of before. He tells you that Evanson has already moved to attack, and that he left your mercanaries to defend the camp. Barick even helps you into your breastplate, this is the first time you've ever seen him truly dutiful.

You have him fetch your mirror for you to scry from, but you find it difficult to bring forth the right images and can't even find the camp. You just begin to resign yourself to waiting for news the old fashioned way when you notice a group moving towards the camp, a handful of mounted figures leading a small force of unarmored footmen wielding a variety of crude weapons including wooden spears and handaxes. They arn't wildmen, so that makes them either the forces of the local lord or a group of bandits, probably the former.
You raise the alarm, but note that a flight would mean leaving behind the carriage and carts.

Are there any defensible sites, to even the odds?  And again, how much time do we have?

An hour at the most. The terrain is forest on one side and a hilly area on the other.

This has to be Elwer not having died. Sounds like a local lord and peasant levies.

If that kid survived all that (which he very well could of) he deserves a god damn medal and our respect.

Try to scry once more to get a  better view of who's coming.

Our number one reason to be here is defend our sister, we should just wait for them to come instead leaving the carts and our sister defenseless.
